Johnson Controls really screwed up the market. Renewable Energy is where the quality is at. and it's where the money is

Theres no reason I know of that the 3121 shouldnt be used as a daily driver battery. Its very close to the OEM battery spec wise, but is half the weight. OEM battery is like 42lbs, 600cca and a 90 minute reserve capacity. the 3121 is 21lbs, 550cca and 75 minute reserve. Wheres the downside? OP is asking for information if youve got some why mention it only to tell us you wont share?

well ive only had experience with one of the batteries and what it did was like a negative positive type deal... proved it was a good battery but at the same time was shitty. like water glass half full/empty type deal

all id really want to say is id trust it to run but at the same time its much more touchy and even as a race battery it needs to be watched closely

Johnson basically owns the market :P They do as they please. Like suffocate exide into submission

Im pretty sure the braille battery is a Deka battery. ftw.

It's not made in my plant but i could try to find the bottom line specs on it. Some retailers tend to rate their batteries on the higher end whereas the manufacturers spec them more conservatively.

a lot of the exides are junk. they are a PITA to deal with too regarding discounts, junk value, etc. where do you work?

and yes, the braille batteries are custom built to brailles specs by east penn(deka) in PA. however they are not available for purchase directly though deka. which kind of sucks considering i bought half a million from them last year

one of the big problems i run into with automotive and marine batteries is interstate battery. johnson controls owns interstate battery and give interstate $0.60 junk value per pound. i'm lucky if i get $0.38 a pound. i have found interstate selling below cost before...

Brailles are Deka ETX series batteries thats not really a secret or anything bad IMO, I like them because of that, USA made FTW indeed. But the Brailles have a 3yr warranty, from DEKA the battery will probably be $50-80 cheaper but only has a 1yr warranty. You pay for the warranty and pretty package.

just like deka makes batteries for Caterpillar with some crazy off the wall specs that no other battery of the same size will match

I only get one free battery a year and I don't think it applies to the specialized ones. I will find out about any updated to the intimidator for you.

That funny. That's the department where i work. You wouldn't believe the quality control standards for these things. Some of the stuff doesn't even make sense. Like lead grids that need to look like Gisele Bundchen. Does nothing to help performance, but it's expected. The big guns just want them looking diamond perfect in case volvo or catepillar comes walking through i suppose.

I figure this thread was due for an update. Last week I ordered a Braille B2015 and it showed up this past Friday. The link is below. I know I went against what some suggested, but I decided that since I garage my car every winter I would take the risk of getting the smaller battery. My roommate has an srt4 that he drives all year so he decided he would try out the B3021. I put the battery in tonight and I have to say, this thing is tiny compaired to our stock ACDelco. Once I got it in, and after letting the pump prime itself for a second or two since I had the battery out a good 15 minutes, she fired right up. I went for run with all the lights on (headlights and foglights) and the radio up with the bass up just to be sure I was using some electricity and the lights didn't dim or anything. I know most of that is the alternator, but I figured if the battery wasn't adequite I would be able to tell. After the spin, I turned the car on and off a couple times just to be sure I would be good to go tomorrow morning and it started right away every time. So far I'd say the purchase was worth it.
