A little Scared...

Well I just installed my AEM intake. The reason i got it is because i thought it sat up higher in the wheel well than stock, because i am deathly afraid of Hydrolock....

I installed it and wow, it sits very low. I am really disappointed. Does the Injen intake sit higher up? and does anyone have any pics....

I am just really nervous im gonna break my car. It snowed today and i didn't drive it at all....

You won't have any hydro lock problems unless you drive through a foot of standing water!

how affective are hydro shields? will they repel most moisture that could splatter up from rain?

My advice:

Man up. I have an AEM CAI on my daily driven '07 2.4SS (up to 38,000), and I drive it through rain, snow, sleet, hail......you name it. Have never had any real problems with it on.

lol I know right....

it snowed, and he was afraid to drive it. Funny, my car is covered in snow at this very moment. In about 30 min im gonna scrape the snow, turn the key and drive 20 miles home.

Hell, last year, right after I lowered my car (and the intake was on at this point), it snowed like crazy. I dubbed my car the "Snowbalt SS" that day b/c my front bumper was literally plowing piles of snow out of the way.

drops will not do anything to an engine!!!
I've poured small amounts of water into other engines before to clean them while runnnig and all it did was steam!

To hydrolock the engine you must take in several ounces at once.

You will be fine, our wheel well is completely covered it is very unlikely you will get enough water on the filter to hurt your motor unless you drive it into a lake. Also a hydrosheild will help you

If you car floats on the puddle that you are trying to drive through, you are at risk for hydrolock.

I've driven through puddles and tons of rain and a few feet of snow, nothing.
No CELs, no probs.
I even slowly roll my car through the rocker panel spray at the touchless car wash (the pressure wash that sprays the bottom of your car) and not one problem.
I don't have a hydroshield and I have the Injen in.

I live in wa....and it works for me lol...if you are worried get the bypass from aem, it is a bypass incase you do get water it bypasses the standard filter with a smaller pressure reg one that will take in the air and break the suction and let the water fall out..not too expensive but good if your nervous
