Locking gas cap..
Ok now as sum of you are aware there are people out there syphoning gas outta vehicles in this day and age, so I found my old locking gas cap! Problem is it sets off CEL and beeps etc, so unless there is a high end one that provides a good enough seal I recommend you forget about it. I threw mine on cause I've decided to run nothing but Shell V-power in my car now and well I don't need sum low life screwing around with that part.
Now how do I get rid of my CEL on my dash? Is it a trip to the dealship thing?

isn't there a screen in the tank that would prevent someone from getting into it? sure they could break through it, but are they really going to take a screwdriver and start banging it around inside the gas tank? personally, i would rather just go to another car.

yeah...lol you're right! But my experiences in Detroit showed me that crack doesn't make you very smart...lol or does it Those crackheads up there are pretty crafty when it comes to stealing stuff. Especially, when you catch them in the act. Its like trying to chase down Carl Lewis...they're too fast

I got myself one not too long ago. I got it off ebay and came reccomended from someone on this site. I have had it on the car for two months without a single CEL. If I can find the link I'll put it up.

Just go to Auto Palace and pick up a locking gas cap like I did (about $10-$12).
Works fine, no cells.
And as far as the statement "Well people can break into it anyway", that remark doesn't make any sense.
Then why lock your car when going into the store?
Why even lock the doors of your house when you go to sleep at night?
I'll tell you why. Because not all criminals are professionals. Sometimes they're just kids or idiot adults looking for easy prey (either for a quick buck or just wanting to cause damage for kicks).
Locking gas caps WILL help in many situations.
So go out and get one already ....
Works fine, no cells.

i doubt there are people who need to steal premium gas, most likely, a locking cap will send them to the corolla or w/e next to your car.
put your stock cap back on for now.. then disconnect the negative battery terminal for overnight.. it should stay off when you reconnect it in the morning.
