Looking to buy a cobalt (in the future)

a little backround on myself; im 17 and a jr in high school, i figure if im gonna buy a car for college, i might as well start saving up now.

well, ive been browsing the forums for a couple of days now, and got a pretty good idea about the cobalt. but im still looking for a little more input. like that differences between the ss and the ss/sc, is it worth the extra $$? anything would be great.

thanks

I guess it depends on what you are using the car for. If you are planning on modifying the car and want something you can have fun with, then go for SS/SC, if you want something that is reliable and efficient, just get the SS. IMO the SC is definitely worth the added money, but only you know what your budget is... and whether or not it is realistic. The S/C definitely burns up more fuel, has a much better look, and is a lot faster, but if you aren't going to take advantage of that anyway, then be realistic with yourself.

unless your rolling in the dough, save your money for college and just get a car that gets you where you need to be.

or join the military, get your education for free like I did... and still get the car that you want... just make sure you volunteer for deployments and before you know it, you'll have a **** ton of money in your bank account, a retirement account, and all the medical care you could need when you blow yourself up... considering I am now working on my Master's Degree... and I'll be out of the military in a few weeks... I don't think I've done too bad for myself. ;0

well the thing is i have no set budget. my parents said they will probably get/pay for the majority of a car. being that my dad is a gm/chevy guy, i figure a cobalt is my best bet. is the handling better with the ss/sc? and i know the ss doesnt compare to the ss/sc when it comes to speed, but im sure it still has good get-up-and-go

Check out Chevy's website.

And invest in a spell check program.

the ss doesnt compare to the ss/sc in ANY category the ss/sc is superior in EVERY category EXCEPT price, well its still superior just not in the good way

If you have no budget, why would you not get the SS/SC? It just wouldn't make any sense to get the SS... unless you plan on modifying the hell out of it anyway, then I guess you might as well just get the SS and throw a turbo on it... but if you aren't going turbo anyway, just go SS/SC and upgrade to stage 2 ASAP...

if your parents are going to pay for most of it...buck up and ask for the ss s/c!

why not, but hell, you are young, and maybe it's a bit too much for you? Get a junker...then after your sophmore year, get a brand spanking new balt, probably with a turbo. if you get a junker now, you will appreciate the nice car a lot more later down the line.

If your parents are gunna pay for most of the car get the ss/sc. I honestly dont think you can compair the too cars. The ss/sc is better in every aspect of anything if you asked me. not to bash the 2.4 in any way. I dont think the gas milage could be very different between the two. if you dont floor it then you can get pretty good milage. i get around 28 city/ highway and like 33 highway.
