Looking at the Cobalt SS

Hey guys!

Im looking to make an import to domestic conversion in my life and was looking at the Cobalt SS as a possible model to complete my switch. I choose this car to look at since its FWD, which Im use to but also opens up 2 new doors for me. First its supercharged and second its stick-shift. I've done a lil research so far that this car seems to have a nice amount of aftermarket support so I can still be a 'tuner'.

I was wondering if you guys can point out year models to look at and maybe tell me some of the faults, but mostly highlights, about your cars!

Thanks very much!

Awesome! Its a good car dude,

05-07 are supercharged
08-09 are turbocharged

I have a 07 G85 edition Supercharged cobalt, This car deffinantly does have some good aftermarket support. The supporting vendors on this site offer some pretty awesome deals for the aftermarket parts aswell. Ive had alot of fun with this car and havent really experienced anything bad. Good luck with the search to find a nice new cobalt and welcome!

Learning to drive a stick in cobalt could equal a $1000 clutch bill. There have been Countless people that burn up their clutchs really really fast in these cars and its because they aren't shifting and driving it right. The person who had the car before me drove it for 13k miles and had 2 clutches put in and a transmission! not to mention a broken axel. I have been driving the car for about 45k miles now and I too have to replace the clutch but that was because of the tard that owned the car before me glazed the new clutch to no return! but I have been running 40k on my exedy clutch with absolutely no problems.

Great cars, I love mine i have a 2007 SS Supercharged. No problems with mine.. Ran into stupid ones like replacing a emissions control sensor and my car throws a lame system too lean code so new map sensor and front 02 sensor i need replaced. other then that car runs great, What you said about aftermarket, Depending on ware you look it would seem like the aftermarket is very slim not much to choose from, but theres a significant amout. If i where you ide look at an 06 07, Unless you want the turbo charged varient of our cars witch is 08-09.

I remember when this car first came out everyone was saying the clutch was weak. When really they just needed to learn how to drive. I'm on 76,000 miles and the clutch is still great.
