LSJ, LNF combo

I was wondering if its possible, and a smarter decision to buy a LNF bottom end ,and install a LSJ head compared to building it up with after market. I know that the LNF's are stouter motors. My reason for asking is because I want daily drivability and durability, along with more power. I'm planning on 300 whp. Really don't need anymore on a FWD car anyways. Anyway is it possible?

if all you are looking for is 300 whp, an LSJ is plenty. hell, there are LSJ's on this site with stock bottom ends putting out 400 whp with a turbo swap. the LSJ is a very reliable, strong engine with great durability.

Thanks? I was wondering cause I've seen alot of blown motors around here. Probably cause of bad tunning. Even though I'll just keep the Idea incase I need to rebuild the motor. I do eventually want to turbo it, and still get 300 whp. Just for curiosity sake does the lnf block bolt up. I would figure it does but I just need a second opinion. One more question does the LNF trans bolt up to the LSJ. Food for thought incase I blow my trans.

you are right about the tunning. you can have the best built up motor in the world, but can blow it up if it has a poor tune. most of the people who blew their motors back in the day, were due to them running a 2.5 or 2.6 inch pulley with no cooling mods. that was before people learned about what it takes to make our cars reliable when upping the boost / power. the others who have blown their motor, were due to unsafe / poor tunes. check out the lsj power book. they have a build up for a 300+ hp ecotec lsj. i have the book, and have learned alot about what you need to make a safe and reliable performance engine.

as for your questions about the lnf being able to bolt up .... ill save that for the guys who know more about that engine. i know some about the ss/tc, but only enough to get me by, haha.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll ask the guys at crate engine depot. they might now. I just need it for future reference incase I do blow something.

so whats stronger about the LNF bottom end? they have the same forged crank, the same forged rods, and the pistons are direct injection specific so you cant use them. if anything just throw some pistons in your LSJ and call it a day

Oh your right I forgot about that. The injector go straight into the block. I heard somewhere that the LSJ internals are spun cast, and not forged. Don't now how true that is.

You're right they are. Got one more questions. I got a pair of cobra racong seats. Our factory seats have the air bag system in the seat or the B pillars? What do I have to do to install my seats and keep my side impact airbags?
