Might be buying
I just joined a couple minutes ago but I have wanted a Cobalt for a while now. Basically I want to know of any performance problems or handling problems. I was told that you kind of have to force it to turn and I already read about the spoiler making it hard to see out the window.
I also want some good points to bring up because my parents will be buying it. And this would be my first car with a manual. Should I go with the manual or automatic? Thanks for the quick replies. I would like to get an SC but I doubt I could get my parents to buy it.
Well the person that said it didn't go into detail but he said that it is hard to turn the car almost like you have to force it.
Edit:
Just to mention I have an '03 Neon right now. Manual everything(that is windows, locks very annoying) but its an auto. that doesn't have anything to do with this but i just thought about adding it. Now could some people tell me things I could tell my parents to buy one, hopefully the super charged.

good to see that your intrested in the cobalt and welcome to the site.
I would recromend the ss s/c first then if they dont go for that try and get the 2.4 ss both seem like great cars to have

Welcome to the site.
You should drive both the SS 2.4L and the SS/SC (or ride in it if you don't drive stick) to get a better perspective.
There are pros/cons to the manual tranny, but personally I would go with a manual. It's more fun in my opinion, and allows you greater interaction with the car.

Go with a 5 Speed! you wont regret it!
All cobalts are great! Wether it is a base, 2.4, or SS/SC you will love it!
The aftermarket is going to explode for all three models, I have a feeling, and so no matter what your choice, it will be supported by parts, and of course by the people on this forum!

Make sure to mention that the cobalt has one of the best crash test ratings in its class. I'll find it.
Test ratings
Here it is, its good if you have all the airbags.

There is one more thing that I want to ask that wont help my chances of getting a cobalt but. How much room is in the back? Is there enough to lay horrizontal with, well lets say my girlfriend?

I have come to learn the fornt passenger bucket seat is much better then the back seat
I can't speak for the SS models, but my LT is easier to turn than my mom's '99 Monte Carlo Z34, and handles just as well. I wouldn't think steering would be a concern.
Back seat room... well, I sat back there once, and there wasn't a whole lot of space. If the passenger seat of my S10 had enough room to maneuver I'd say the Cobalt's should too.... especially since it reclines further.

if your looking for a good car on gas but also on performance buy the 2.4 SS. I think also the seats in the back fold down so passengers 6'0 ft or lower can sprawl out in the trunk/back seats with the seats folded down.
At this point your vertically challanged rather then horizontally.
