my first drive

I'm in the market for either a Cobalt SS Supercharged or the Pontiac Solstice. I currently drive a 1996 Impala SS and I had to rebuild the engine recently and buy new tires. That plus the cost of gas ($60 a week) is really taking a toll on me. I can't make up my mind between the Cobalt or the Solstice, the Solstice is a sexy car and the Cobalt hauls ass. Anyhow, tonight after I got out of class I went to the chevy dealership and got myself a test drive of the Cobalt SS Supercharged. WOW!!!! I really like the interior and the way it feels when I'm sitting in it, not as nice as the C6, but never the less. First gear is amazing, the power is immediate and pulls hard all the way to 6500 rpm. That is saying something considering I drive a car with a dynoed 335 lb ft of torque at the rear wheels. Shifting feels nice and the clutch is VERY easy to work with, I have never driven a stick shift car, even though I do know how to drive stick. I am very impressed with this car and it would do my "real" SS justice sitting in its place in the driveway. I've yet to drive the Solstice so my decision is not final. You never know I may be a brand new 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged owner before Christmas.

Just make sure you get the performance package since you love to punch it in first gear so much. Be sure to give us your impressions of the solstice, I don't think many of us have driven it yet.

dont expect to drive a solstice before x-mas

unless a dealer near you gets lucky to get a couple of the GM has floating from dealer to dealer for test drives

right now they are doing presells on it , and telling you itll be in during the summer

i got lucky to drive a solstice , very nice riding and handling car , they do lack the power feel but hopefully the turbo/supercharger version will correct that

but alot of the lack of power feel is the drive by wire , and that lack of feel is in both the solstice and the cobalts

the saturn sky is alot better looking than the solstice in my opinion

even though i do like them all

NEVER buy a car like the Solstice the first year it comes out. You always end up paying way too much for it because of the stupid markups and, lets face it, GM is infamous for improving their cars significantly a year or two after it is released.

my local Ponitac dealer had about 3 Solstices sitting on the lot waiting to be sold. Might depend where you live and or Dealer BS. But I did notice that there was a surcharge for the ones he did have.

You will not be disappointed. Show pics when you purchase.

By the way, those who said the Solstice isn't out at dealers, check again... I know location varies but in MI and OH they are everywhere!!
