i had a 2.2 for 2 years till i traded in. i had an lt though, power everything, and it was much better than a base model cobalt. like i said, if you researched first, you would have seen that there were other optoins. you got the bottom of the bottom. you have the absolute base model, then the ls, then the lt with the 2.2 motor in all of them. there are different trim levels for the 2.2 motor. you chose the shittiest of them all, and then complain that it's shitty? of course it is, it has roll down windows, crappy 15 inch hubcaps, 6 inch wheel gap, etc. but moral of the story is you chose to buy without doing your research. there ARE other options, you chose to ignor them. so stop the whinging, and either deal with it or trade it in.

I have an auto. Sorry. No, my auto 2.4 will not beat a new Si. those are very quick. I've driven them before. And out of the 3 listed, why'd you figure I couldn't beat the Si or the TC? What about the Mazdaspeed 3? Tubro anyone? The TC has less power than me, dude.

 

it rattles when you go over speedbumps??? speedbumps are for making you go slower. you're going too fast over them and its shaking the crap out of your car. thats what they're supposed to do

and your wheels locking up is because of lack of abs. just look ahead and predict whats going to happen. 90 percent of the time i can tell if someone is going to try and pull out in front of me or do something stupid.

your only complaints are rattles and brakes locking and you came to the conclusion of the worst car ever?? exactly how many cars have you driven?? four? the bonneville, durango, suburban, and cobalt?? there has got to be more than that that you don't like about it to be this pissed and i'd like to hear it

and if you actually send this to chevy, just send this last part, its all you need because they'll just throw it away if you send them the whole thing. its too long

 

in all honesty...i want to help...in a way i dont think anyone has helped yet: solving your complaints
braking: the car brakes just fine...i drive my LS pretty damn hard but have never hit brake fade...however, i DO remember when i was using the stock continentals....they were complete ****. I also understand you dont have a lot of money to go out and invest in your car...but i will suggest new tires. the tires i have, Nexen P3000s are amazing. they grip MUCH better than the continentals, and are ranked against Pirelli Pzero and Falken F1 tires....they arent quite as good as the two tires i just listed, but heres the kicker....theyre only $100 each! the pirellis and falkens are like $250 each, and theyre not a LOT better, nly a little

upgrading my tires was the single greatest mod i have done to this car, as i stop faster, can corner better, and i honestly believe my new ability to stop in a short distance has saved my life already.

as far as the rattling, theres not a lot you can do. i suppose you can dynamat everything, but i dont really know a thing about dynamat at all...so i cant tell you how much this would cost or how helpful this would be.

for the interior...i HIGHLY reccomend painting your interior trim. Its cheap ($10 paint, $10 clear coat, $2 untra fine sand paper), and looks amazing when your done. you also get a GREAT appreciation for what you've done, which will definitely help you enjoy your car more. if you think your dash looks good, and you know its because of hard work you put into it, you will love your car.

i LOVE my car SO much. i really loved my car when i first bought it, and the more work i did to it, the more i like it. I know every flaw that is on my car, and i know many of them are my doing (like paint coming off of the doors....they take more abuse than i thought...i should have clear coated more). i realize i personally brought my car from a flawless car to one with plenty of flaws, but the fact that 95% of what i do ends up working and looking good, and knowing that i did it myself, makes me love my car more than anyone elses. For example, i love my car so much, i decided i didnt want to upgrade to a ss s/c for the horsepower that comes with it....because i would have to get rid of my current car....so instead im supercharging my 2.2 myself...and i know i will appreciate MY supercharger more than any 2.0 owner will ever appreciate theirs.

i hope this helps, and if yourreally against modding your car, or you REALLY just dont have the money, PLEASE invest in the new tires....theyre a rediculous improvement over stock and i know you wont regret it

most of the turbo kits are not going to eat an SS/sc, maybe keep up with one in a straight line but never in the corners

 

Wow I thought that all gm cars came with standard abs breaks. I don't mean to be rude or bash on you but it seems like you had your heart set on the SS and seems that you go through every day or every time you see one you get pissed and think about how big of a piece of **** your car is. Trust me there are much worse car than a base cobalt. Car are really what you make them(at least cheap ones).

Over my life I have driven ALOT of base models of everything. There are not any that are worse than the other. It is all in what you expect in a car. If you think that a base Cobalt has issues, drive a completley stock 1962 VW Bug and let me know how you feel about cheap, rattles and power.

Concerning your original post; you'd be better off re-drafting your letter to contain only the facts concerning your Cobalts' specific flaws, and that you would like to be contacted by GM directly to rectify the problems.

Ok let me say something about how shitty GM is before this thread get locked!

Ok here goes. My family and I have owned nothing but gm vehicles all my life and have loved them. I myself I have owned 5 of them.

The first was a 87 cavalier. Great car as fare as cost and reliability. I bought it when I was 15 for 1200 and I put about 100,000 miles on top of the 100,000+ I bought it for and sold it for 1600. It had the stock engine and only required routine maintenance through it life with me.

The second was an 98 cavalier that ran great and I still have with no major problems with the motor when I pulled it for an engine swap at 100,000 miles.

I had one more cavalier that was purchased as a 2003 model that was great and a really nice car for the money. It ran great until the day it was totaled and the insurance gave me more for the car than I bought it for over a year later! That was nuts.

I have various other gm toys but none of those compare to this piece of **** I have now! I have had it for over a year and the battery went bad so I jumped it off and took it to the dealer those ******** had the never to fix it for free. They didn't have the battery in stock so they took on out of a car that just came in off the truck. How dare them try and help me. GM really messed up with this car, 1 year and know problems man what a hunk of ****.



Sorry I am just in that kinda mood and I am sorry for all the people that read through that just to see my be a smart ass. I will how ever wright more meaningless post about my other cars that were great if you want the read someones rambling. I'm done end of crap!
