My new Cobalt developments!

Well, I went to the Greater Cleveland International Auto Show today, boy was it an experience. I have found that sunroofs on Cobalts ruin my day, the Pontiac G5 is now a contender, and the Mazda3 hot-hatch is looking even more attractive.

First off, the Cobalt. Wow, was I impressed with the car! Only problem is, with all adjustments, it was still a wee tight. I'm 6'8" and 280 some lbs. so any car I can fit into is a god send. However, the Chevy rep told me this was due to the head room being reduced by the stupid sunroof. I talked to a local salesdooder who was snarfing people there, and he told me they might have a SS/SC with no sunroof, so I have to go sit in that. Oh, and by the way, I think I might be the first person to NOT have a problem with seeing out of the rear-view with the high mounted spoiler. Hate me.

Next, the Mazda. They showed off the Speed3 which would be nice to get my hands on one, but since it's a limited import of only 4,000, dealers can run rampant and jack the prices. But I sit in it nicely, and I must say it is sexy. However, if I look further, I must test drive and I would probably look into a plain 3.

Finally, the Pontiac G5! This was the real sleeper of the night. I knew it was similar to the Cobalt but damn, why don't they just call it the Pontiac Cobalt. The interior is pretty much a spitting image of the Cobalt without the inserts option. But, for some reason, I fit nicely in this vehicle. I dunno, but I was looking at the options on Pontiac.com and the brochure, and the even have the high-mounted spoiler for it now. I **** you not, it's the spitting image of the Cobalt's. Now, I'll just have to wait and see what happens and do shitloads of research.

For my question though, does anybody on CSS.net have a Pontiac G5 or similar, or Mazda 3 or driven one? Any suggestions to what I should do. Honestly though, I still like the Cobalt the best, and I'll always drive a Cobalt at heart, so if anybody can give me any tips on fitting in the Balt, it would be appreciated. Oh, and I almost forgot, the Chevy rep said it was possible to ask the dealership if I could custom the seating on the Balt so it's farther back. W00T! One other thing, how do I post pictures on a forum, I've never tried before.

I own a cobalt SS/SC and test drove the SS/SC without sunroof before I bought mine, and the roof line is higher. You might fit into that one. The G5 doesnt offer a supercharge version of the G5.

As far as the mazdaspeed 3, well I test drove one the other day, and in all honesty, it had real ***** down low, but once it gets reving 4500+, NO ***** = 0. I dont know in a drag race what would happend, but it would be a good race. But what I found was that it wasnt a fun car to drive, I like for a motor to have linear power, or gain power (sensation) as RPM's increase. Not the opposite. MS3 as the rpm's increase, power significantly decrease. Find Dyno sheets online and you'll see exacly what I mean. I would suggest, to try a sunroofless SS/SC and get the stage2.

If you cant fit, I would look direction 350Z (fun to drive), 2006 low miles STI, WRX, Eclipse V-6..... All fast cars and around the price a Speed3 will cost. Maybe a little more, but honestly you wont regret it.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of imports, so thanks for the suggestions anyway. The only reason I'd buy Mazda is because it's so much a part of Ford. At this point, if I can't fit in the SS/SC it will be teh G5.

G5 is exactly the same at the cobalt except the front, rear, and pontiac symbols. G5 is only offered with the 2.2 or the GT has the 2.4. No 2.0 SC.

The packages are also the same as what you find at Chevy.com.

I wouldnt get an eclipse. The new ones are pretty weird lookin and the v6 is heavy.

The G5 looks really cool, but its too bad they dont make one thats supercharged. I hate the way the back of the Cobalt looks, especially the tail lights, but im still gettin it cuz i like everything else about it.
