My ss is in the shop...

alright so since i had my GMPP stage 2 installed my 2nd gear has been being a bitch, and gettin worse and worse. this is what happens.... after getting stage 2 sometimes my 2nd gear would grind when trying to engage, and it would also kick out of gear if i was downshifting going through a corner with no throttle. it had never done either of those two things unless i had the occassional brain lapse and didnt have the clutch fully disengaged. well last night i was driving home and it would grind everytime i tried to upshift or downshift into 2nd, i knew it wasnt my clutch because it was only 2nd gear and i made sure the clutch pedal was pushed all the way to the floor.

so i took my car to my dealer today and they drove it and said there is def. something wrong with my tranny and it should be under warranty, they will most likely be able to diagnose it tomorrrow after they tear apart the whole tranny. hell if they have to replace my tranny under warranty im not going to complain because thats a brand new tranny after 24,000 miles. i think its prolly just the syncro though. so now im driving a rental car and what is it.... a brand new 4 door cobalt! i ebraked that bitch and did a nice little 10 foot burnout at my house a little while ago

Same story with mine last week........Good thing you took it in when you did. I sheered the pin off and lost all of my gears because of my syncros screwing up. 2nd gear would grind even with the clutch disengaged. They are having trouble finding the parts for my car, so make sure you keep checking on the progress.

i don't have the list, but apparently for mine they had to order 4 parts......before the syncros. The pin and everything else incorporated with that, they are just replacing the whole mechanism. Unfortunatly they did not know the history about the syncros, so they ordered those yesterday, and that seems to be what they are having trouble finding. I told the service department everything that happened prior to me losing all the gears.....and the servince sheet said "no gears" and that's it, so the guy in the shop had nothing to really work with. At least you took yours in before you caused more damage, like mine.

The clutch wouldn't have anything to do with the syncros. It seems like GM is shying away from handing out new trannys. In a case like yours, there wouldn't be any need to anyway. Just a simple syncro swap is all that it sounds like it needs since you haven't broken anything in the tranny.

I was suprised about my clutch.......I thought mine was gonna look like ****, but the tech showed me that and nothing but normal wear and tear.

Plus my dealership went the route of getting a brand new tranny for mine.....none available....looks like we're both waiting

Yeah your syncro sounds fucked for sure. Your stage 2 is just a coincidence, dont let them tell you its because of that.

I had just installed a new 2.9" pulley the week prior to this.....and they didn't even care about it. I doubt you'll have any problems with them saying that upgrades caused it.
