new car purchase

I am in the process of finding a cobalt LS for my daughter. The new car prices, for an automatic, are running around 15,000 dollars for a new car. What are most of you paying for a basic cobalt such as this? I'm trying to get an idea of what a good price is before I talk to the dealers on this week.

my suggestion to you is dont buy new, your going to lose alot of money the second you drive it off the lot, you can find used LS for really cheap, just make sure they are well keept up and not beat on.

You can check out the G5s as well. Im also looking for a slightly used 06/07 cobalt or g5.

The pontiac dealers have the new G5s well equiped here for 14.5k STICKER, and the G5 GT (2.4 ecotec SS equiv) for 18.4k.

The chevy dealer has no SSs of course, and many cobalts in the 15k range, remember thats sticker. When I talked to them they said they had a rebate of 1500 going on. I would assume you be able to get one around invoice, then minus the rebate.

Right now im just checking the papers and autotrader, I would like to get a used one in the 11k and under range.

G5s are just as nice but might be able to get a cobalt cheaper since there are more sold but either way the cars are all good. Also the new cobalts come with the 100k warrenty

i got my 2005 LS auto with 26k miles with pretty much all options except for leather/fog lights for 11.5k used plus my neg equity an taxes an **** came out to 16.5 total...then add interest and my 5 year loan is for close to 23k...I would recommend a used base to the bone model if you want to save money...

well seeing as only one person from the southeast other than the op has said anything, i guess i'll throw in my 2 cents. i paid 13,100 for my ls right off the truck.not a mile on her.and that was after taxes and title fees.that's how they still seem to be goin for at the dealers around here too. i walk around the lot while they fix my car for whatever reason its there for.

^o yeah it's 06 if that matters ^
