New Cobalt SS/SC Owner

Hey everyone. Just picked up an orange SS/SC today to keep my Armada company while I sleep. Paid a few bucks of 19k for an 06. Not sure it was such a great deal but it was only a few bucks over invoice as advertised by carsdirect.com. I went shopping looking for the blue or black one but I really dig the orange. Pictures don't do it justice, the color looks great in person!

I was torn between the Saturn RL, SRT-4, and the new Civic Si but I went with the 'balt because it was more aesthetically pleasing to me.

I look forward to conversing with you all. Thanks.

Hello I am shopping as we speak for a cobalt ss/sc...you paid the price that I get through my employeesupplier program. How is this possible ? what options ? or is a base model ?
Pray tell the whole experience including the dealership name. I am most curious about the whole deal..

regards,

It's a new SS/SC. How did I get that price? I did a fair amount of research to be honest. It ended up with me finding a dealer (Nimnicht Chevrolet in Jacksonville FL) that had the car I wanted (basic SS/SC) with the best advertised price. I approached them with the invoice price I found on Carsdirect.com along with the advertised prices of all the SS/SC's within a 300 mile radius of my zip to show expected depreciation. We negotiated a reasonable price (20,349 I believe) from which I deducted $500 as a U.S. military member rebate GM offers on all there vehicles. Then I noticed the vehicle had dealer installed options listed on the window sticker that weren't yet on the car (pin striping and door molding). These items were about $225 and I didn't want them so the took that off the price of the car. So, I'm looking at 19.6k give or take a hundred.

One thing that helped me was I walked in the door preapproved with an interest rate they couldn't touch. I didn't really care if I left with the car or not so I wasn't in a hurry and they could tell so they didn't try to BS me to much.

All in all I'd have to say I had a positive buying experience from Nimnicht. They have a black 05 with about 14k. It has sunroof, xm, and a few other options. It's listed on autotrader.com within 50 miles of 32212. They have it listed for 19.9 but they dropped it to 18.6 over the phone without me even coming in. The paint has some light swirls but it's nothing I couldn't get out with a couple of hours with my Porter Cable.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't plan on modding...but then again I didn't plan on modding my S2k or my G35 before I traded them in on my 'mada...so you never know. I'll keep you posted if I do. I look forward any FL meets.
