New Wheels for Cobalt SS

Just found these, I searched this site about a month ago and they didn't have anything for the SS.

Why are you downgrading?

I think he was just trying to show that there are actually some options out there now, and thats not really downgrading considering they are 18's... and IMO 16" and 17" have the best performance capabilities anyways

Yeah I am not sure why getting different wheels would be a downgrade either?

Sorry, my ignorance. I thought the stock SS wheels are forged aluminum as opposed to die cast. As you know, forged wheels are not only lighter, they're much stronger. Going to a die cast wheel like VaMP has suggested is a downgrade IMO.

The 18's for the SS/SC that are offered by GM accessories are forged aluminum.

If you think we have traction problems now, throw on some 16" or 17" wheels I posted it because a few people have mentioned they don't like the OEM wheels.

See what I mean. A good forged wheel is going to cost at least $350 a wheel which explains why the OEM wheel is so expensive. If you're going just for style and esthetics, then I guess a die cast wheel is okay. I bought the SS/SC (which BTW has been built and I should get within 9 business days - whooowhhooo!!) mainly for performance, not for looks (even though she looks oh so nice as well), so I'm not going to change features that would hinder that.

Now.. I'm waiting to see some different tire options to go along with the decent selection of wheels.

Another set of Pirelli's show up under our size. Those are different than the stock tires, correct? It really doesn't give any imformation about the tire. $215 per tire though..

i like the 5 spoke design the best, but i'm not digging the 2 piece look with the bolts.i still think these are the best wheels for the cobalt. i would love to have that concept cobalt.

I like those too. Funny thing, those are the rims that were supposed to be on the 2005 Pontiac Pursuit SE which was launched but never left showrooms back in December 2004 (in Canada only). Not only did they suspend the car for a year, but they put different wheels on them....WTF???
