Oh.. the choices.

Hey guys.. well heres the thing... my dad is telling me that he'd rather me get a RX-8 (04) Used with like 10k miles on it or so over the Cobalt SS... I was wondering what kinda comparison you guys could give me and some of the pros/cons between the two.. I'm trying to make my decision, I know the RX 8 gets like 13.4 MPG...

Let me know, thanks!

Heres the RX-8:

The mpg is unbelieveable in that car but if those are your choices i woud go with the RX-8. You get close to the same performance as the SS S/C 50/50 weight distribution and better looking car inside and out. There's a reason it win C&D's 10best almost every year.

Only thing to be careful about is if the previous owner took care of the car. I knows this is for any car but its rotary it needs a lil more care and maintanance then ppl think.

..the RX-8 will get you laid im sure, but the SS will last longer & probably be cheaper to maintain... the rotary engines are a bitch to keep up on and $$$

So what exactly would I need to do to maintain it as far as cost and what I'd need to do.

Thanks

I live in hollywood, FL want me to go look at it for you.
Call me at 954-4391116 if u want to talk.
I would get the ss/sc because I want a manual even though the rx-8 has triptronic.
Do u want rwd or fwd
Which has the options that u want because if I could go back I would have gotten the g85 package.
Does the gas mileage matter to u. I would say 16-17mpg city for the rx-8 and 22mpg city ss/sc and these are low estimates.
I do miss the rwd of my camaro.

Automatic RX-8's are pigs... hella slow... guzzles gas... and oil... and I don't see why y'all say C&D loves 'em... the last review I saw they ate it up. Heck... I smoked a couple of RX-8's in my old automatic SS/2.4...

SS/SC FTW!!

the rwd is the only thing that the rx-8 has going for it...other then that the cobalt really slams on it in every other field..and i have to agree when some of these other guys are saying maintaince on a rotary engine sucks *****.

automatic rx-8 are slow as *****. also keep in mind they burn oil, its part of the way they operate, so thats another expense to add to the premium it takes like the ss.

cobalt for the win man, you are going to have to dump alot more money into an rx-8 to make it anywhere near was quick as a lightly modded ss/sc

A manual RX-8 is rated at 232hp.... the auto at 212.... 20hp is a big difference.

A manual RX-8 could atleast be considered a performance vehicle... but I still don't understand why you'd want a 1.3L engine that gets 18MPG... if you like that kinda mileage... get a Mustang.

Not to mention the rx-8 hp is rated at the crank, not at the wheels like the SS/SC 205-215.
Maintenance is key on them also, and in a drag an SS/SC will take them almost every time. Plus mods are much easier and cheaperfor the SS. rx-8's are hot track cars though.

Honestly, I'm more of a day-to-day type of driver. I somewhat prefer looks over speed, but I'm still trying to decide, I would want a manual now that I think about it.. I've wanted a Cobalt SS/SC for over a year now, but this RX8 is kinda appealing

if you are a day to day type of driver then the cobalt should be favored even more. for one main reason-

DOWN LOW TORQUE

I voted the SS/SC. first off i hate the whole 4 door thing on the rx-8, plus it is an ouat. as was said, what fun is an auto sports car.
