Lol good observation... but when I showed that link, I wasnt saying that exact one, just one with the same options/interior w/ Manual trans.
But yea, this is quite a hard decision, I do fit into both cars (I'm 6'4") so neither is too small, I do also like the interior in the RX a bit better, specially the red/black interior :-P

The downsides of the Rotary are that you have to replace the Apex seals fairly often, they use more oil, and consume more fuel. It would also be more expensive to insure since it's MSRP is 10K above the Cobalt's MSRP.
They are very sexy cars and I originally wanted one, but in the long run I think I made the right decision.

...erm....im a little confused....anyone wanna explain how a rotary engine works? 2 cyl 1.3L makin +200HP? anyway, id go with the mazda....nicer engine, interior (well...idk...i have a base model, but from pics looks like the mazda's nicer) both have nice exteriors....
Like a piston engine, the rotary engine uses the pressure created when a combination of air and fuel is burned. In a piston engine, that pressure is contained in the cylinders and forces pistons to move back and forth. The connecting rods and crankshaft convert the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion that can be used to power a car.
In a rotary engine, the pressure of combustion is contained in a chamber formed by part of the housing and sealed in by one face of the triangular rotor, which is what the engine uses instead of pistons.
The rotor follows a path that looks like something you'd create with a Spirograph. This path keeps each of the three peaks of the rotor in contact with the housing, creating three separate volumes of gas. As the rotor moves around the chamber, each of the three volumes of gas alternately expands and contracts. It is this expansion and contraction that draws air and fuel into the engine, compresses it and makes useful power as the gases expand, and then expels the exhaust.

if your seriously thinking about getting a rotary car. send me a pm.. i am the rotary god on these forums.. i own a 93 rx7, 20b tri rotor.. its a work in progress, and i have owned a rx8.. (honestly.. not worth it) when my rx7 was a stock twin turbo, i swapped it out for a bigger single turbo. rotary means OIL!!!!! and you will be going through alot. plus i bet you didnt know that before you drive in a rotary... you need to let it warm up.. and when u turn it off.. u need to let it idle for a few minutes.. hinestly the cobalt ss/sc is a good car. but long term... idk. ur to young to undertand why i need a **** awsome sports car. just get something to get you around school and to friends and what not. you will feel even better buying cars on ur own.. its an amazing knowing that your paying for a car all by your self, and your parents will swee how responsible you really are. and might help you get the car of your dreams... everyone of my cars i own i bought and paid for.. im 20. and i own a sti, 93 rx-7(parents have me 3k as help for 1st car)and am in the middle of buying a house. stay in school and BUILD THAT CREDIT... it helps.. but like i said, send me a pm for more info on rotary...

BTW: I am buying the car bro, I mentioned my dad because he's cosiging, thats all. Hes paying my insurance, I'm paying 100% of my car payments, I'm 17, I own a online business, and have a job outside of my house as well. I make quite a bit of money for my age. I want a sexy car, I'm mainly going for looks to be honest, but who doesn't like speed? :P Personally, I think the RX-8 looks better inside and out, however, seems like the Cobalt is a more sturdy car. Just my thoughts... Still trying to figure out what to do!!

Well personally if it was a top of the line rx-8 for sure just because its more "luxurious", but that one doesnt even have leather or any of the main options so its like a low end rx-8 or the highest end cobalt and there i would go cobalt also cause ive been in a rx8 and the back seats leave no room and if u want to drive with people i can fit 5 people including me pretty comfortably but then again its all up to u i say cobalt. The price of the rx8 in the long run just isnt worth it.
having driven both I would have to say the Cobalt.
The rx-8 is a nice car and all but as for town driving it sucks. gas mileage is horrible and you have to really step on it to keep up with the stop and go of city driving. The way it drove around town is what made my mind up that i wasn't buying it.
