Oil change gone wrong..
Yes he is sure. The oil flows through the filter and then back into the oiling system after being filtered. The oil will drain down into the pan after a while. As long as there is not a pond of oil on the floor, your good.

He made a mistake and trusted a person he knows well to take care of something valuable to him. That person has no idea what he was doing and instead of asking him a question he assumed he was doing it right. The only thing I would have done different was staid there until it was all finished. I think what he meant was that you don't seem to know very much about changing oil yourself. Not a big deal, but if I didn't know 100% how something worked, I wouldn't be teaching anyone. Now you know how it works, so you're good for next time.
