P0121

Got a check engine light. Read the code with a brother in law's scan tool. Came up as P0121 throttle body/pedal position sensor. Car has no performance issues other than I've noticed that its a bit hesitant accelerating while making a turn. The engine light was coming on for a a day or two. Then going off for a week or two. I've been using the scan tool to clear the code other wise auto start is disabled with the light on. Which doesn't serve well here in a calgary -43 winter. Gonna have a good onest mobile guy come look at it this week. But till then, has anyone else experienced this? Could it just be the throttle body needs to be cleaned? Could it just be a sensor or lose connection where the light would go off on its on after a few days?

Suggestions or theories?

Most likely, the throttle body will need to be replaced.

I'm going through the same issue sort of lol. I replaced my throttle body but i'm still getting low throttle response and basically limp mode. I might have to replace the pedal assembly next. I also had to replace my ground wire that connects to the transmission.

I honestly haven't seen or heard of them going bad - it's usually the TB and/or its wiring that is the issue.

BUT, I do have a spare throttle pedal in my garage (when I went through the same thing). I don't think there is a part number difference between models. Let me know if you want it. Shipping to CA might be costly, but I'm sure I'd let it go cheap enough to make it worth it.

Yeah me neither that's I'm reluctant to replace it. I'm going to get a scan tool again(my old one broke) and see the exact codes that are there. I still have the check engine light so I know its something still I need to address. When I replaced the ground wire to the transmission I was getting low power and very hard shifts with the T/C light on. I'm also an automatic transmission. When I replaced the wire the t/c light went away but the car still feels very sluggish off the line.
