Are you going to replace yours?

I never did get mine blead. We looked up the procedure and it was slightly different than what I was doing, and they were using the same tool.

I need to try it with another person to work the clutch pedal though.

I am putting the OEM bearing back in as the bearing that came with my cluch was the OEM cavy bearing... so i figured i should just buy a NEW OEM bearing instead of putting my used one back in. Look at my other thread "Sad sad day.." to find out what happened to my car

That sucks!

I haven't blead mine in about a week now. It gets funny at times, but is not the end of the world! I will try a bleed it according to the proper book procedure one time. If that fails then I will need to buy that bearing to!

Did you ever talk to TTR or Spec to figure out who dropped the ball on this part confusion?

We never received a PM, here is the deal though...

The SPEC Cavy clutch kit is about $150.00 less than, the SPEC cobalt one....

The pressure plate and disc are the 100% same, on both the cobalt F23 and cavalier F23 trans.

Some have stated the TOB from the Cavalier DOES work, and some state it does not work.

Now a TOB/Slave is about $80.00 from the dealer for the cobalt.

Being you technically saved $150.00 (cobalt clutch is $150.00 more than the cavalier one) as the only difference is the on some the TOB/Slave is different, and you do get a new TOB/slave from the GM dealer for about $80.00 you are STILL a head $70.00 from getting a SPEC cobalt clutch kit one. ($150.00 - $80.00 = $70.00)

Again, why we had cavy and cobalt ones together, as SOME have stated it is the same on their cars, and there are about 3 customers we have heard from that they are different. The issue just came up this year, as back years ago, we never heard 1 issue with the cavalier clutch not being a direct bolt up. We are now only selling the cobalt ones, so they are more $, but all the blame can be on SPEC when they dont work. We were trying to save eveyone $ by doing this.

Some cobalt owners are saying the cavalier TOB/slave hooks right up to thier cobalt system, others are saying they needed to modify it, hose extensions/adapters?!?! Which leads us to believe there are a couple different styles out there.

Interested on the direct connect, 1 other is stating it wasn't.....

Also have you called a dealer and asked for a part number? You can then always get it from GMPartsDirect.com...

The new TOB that came with the kit connected with out issue to the cobalt system. I didn't even think about it being different. I didn't look that close at it when I put it in.

At this point though, if this is the problem I would have rather paid $500 more for the correct TOB, because now I may have to R&R my transmission at a cost of $800 if I pay for labor. Plus I still have to buy a new TOB form GMPartdirect.com for $75.

I am not sure if the Cavi TOB is the cause of the issue or not. There are two different p/n's for the cavi TOB. One is the same as the cobalt one so???
The question is do we have the one for the cobalt/cavi or the one that is ONLY for the cavi.

Most likely the cavalier/cobalt, being you have a cobalt? Maybe a GM dealer can tell you the correct one?

This is the reasoning behind all this, is that it (cavalier clutch kits) DO work on some (cobalts), and others it does not.... For well over a year we could save customers $150 on a clutch kit, but then there have been about 3 out of the 50+ we sold stating different....

Also if your original TOB/Slave, that came with the car when it was new, has less than 50,000 miles you should have no issues re using it, unless you know it is bad.

I threw out the old one and it was gone before I knew there was an issue. Had I known then that I would have issues I would have just left in the old one. Oh well.

Like I said mine is still working its just got some air in it or something that I am having trouble getting out! I will try and bleed it carefully and hope that takes care of the problem!
