thats cool. i meant leave it on the jack for days like when doing major repairs / work. hydraulic jacks can bleed out and sag or collapse.

Didn't occur to me till today, when I just did an oil change, that it was a stupid idea.

It's a little bent now.

Oh well, it happens.

Those pinch seams look exactly the same as on my jbody, I've never had problems jacking from them with a stock jack or a floor jack as long as the lifting pod was centered on the seam. For the rear I have used the torsion axle to life, never had any problems... cobalts axle looks similar but hard to tell if it's as beefy.

i've lifted countless cobalts/pursuits from the pinchwelds with no problems mine you that was with a 2 post shop lift but regardless the pinch welds hold up fine.

ya if the car isn't lifted properly or the jack moves they do bend and the subframe works fine as well with a flat surface lifting it.

Any chance these are still available somewhere?

Use the engine cradle to jack it up; jacks right by the axle.

Works like a charm; if you bend that ****, you've got major problems.

Yes, old thread... but I never seen where the magic arrow is in any of these pics.

I used my trunk jack that came with the car and is slightly damaged the pinch weld strip which upsets me greatly.

I looked for arrows and I too just see painted over body filler and a long metal tab.

Anyone got a definitive pic of this arrow?

Of all the things, I had a flat tire yesterday and I did look for an arrow as shown on the jack, and when I could not find it I assumed it was just an arrow pointing me to placing the jack under that pinch welded tab. It fit perfect, unfortunately it slightly bent it.

if you have any of the ss' the arrow is imprinted into the side skirt. can't remember if the 2.2's have the arrow or not but for the front it should be about an inch behind the door crease and about the same distance at the rear on the pinch weld.

Here is the spot I put the jack stand once it's in the air with the floor jack. I put the jack stand under the black metal frame. Right under where the A arm connects. (front)

OR in the middle of the that bar, with just a floor jack to get boot sides in the air with one jack (probably dangerous, but I just use it to rotate the tires.

I usually don't use jack stands in the rear since I am not working under that half.
i like how the nitrous line is in contact with the exhaust lol bad feeling bout that one
