Problems with MP3 radio?

I have a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC with the Pioneer speakers. Lately my MP3 radio has become real finicky about playing MP3 cds. If they have even a hairline scratch anywhere on them they or the slightlest spec of dust they will skip/hiss/pop like i'm playing vinyl records in the car...

It seems like if I burn a new cd and pop it in, it'll work, but if i take it out and put it back in unless it is PICTURE PERFECT, no dust, no scratches it has long seek times between tracks and a lot of them get all distorted.

I put the same CDs in my 7 year old Kenwood Mp3 player in my old cavalier and it has no problems at all and they all play perfect.

My radio also has bugged out on me 3 times so far where the entire diplay lights up...like every LED lights up green and I can get it to stop unless i turn off the car and wait a few minutes and then restart it. I can't reproduce this and it just randomly happens the 3 times it occured.

Anyone else have any of these issues? i.e. weak cd laser or poor reading ability of cds (esp mp3 cds) and the display bugging out?

Would this be covered under warrenty?

I'm just afraid the dealer will use some DEMO cd that is absolutely mint and it'll have no problem playing that and they will say it works fine.

ugh!
