Ok I read in the manual there is suppose to be a upshift light above the tach, and I was wondering if anybody else who as a SS notices if theirs upshift light works. I know mine doesnt. Dont know if its because it tuned for sport performance or what.

 

No upshift light in mine.

 

thats for the other models, the SS doesnt have it, i dunno why its in the manual

 

cheap for GM just to make one book. speaking of cheap the manuals are cheap looking, my cavalier looked better. Yah I thought since it being a 5-speed, it would at least have the upshift light.

 

I saw no upshift while driving mine either.

 

you SS guys with no light are lucky. I have an LS and the stupid light is big bright and orange.. First reaction was it was a warning light but its the annoying up shift light.

 

Ergonomically the shift light is for economy driving - I somehow doubt anyone buying an SS/SC would be concerned with a light telling them what RPM they are at and suggesting that they shift for more efficient gas mileage. A true SS/SC owner should be able to tell you how fast they're going by what gear they're in and give you an accurate guess as to what RPM they are at. I drove my s10 for 2 years without a clutch and so far 10 years without a tacometer *pats self on back*, I hope you proud owners can do without a bulb in your dash!

 

Yup, econ light is just for the 2.2L

 

I wonder why it's not on the Canadian models, according to the manual.

 

Because we don't need no stinkin' light telling us when to shift!
