And some of you need to take note that the 1995-1998 Cobra wasn't a IRS equipped car.

As for performance the SS/SC will kill it from a dig or a roll, they are about equal to a 199-2004 GT in straight line performance but handle a little better due to larger sway bars and stiffer spring rates.

All of the high revving DOHC 4.6's have serious potential but in stock form a 1996-1998 is pathetic. Even though it was rated at 305HP a 275HP rated F-Body make short work of them.
I own both cars so I should know exactly what both cars will do,and stock to stock the Cobalt will get killed, roll or dig, sorry. And you say they are equal to a 99-04 GT ,once again sorry,I owned a '00 GT and it wouldn't stay anywhere near the Cobra.

Maybe you have/had a super freak Cobra, but I doubt it.

The 1996-1998 Cobra was slow and is equal to a 99-04 GT. Period

Although the 1999 and newer Cobras were a little better they were still unimpressive in stock form. And like I said before you give them to much credit.

The 2003-2004 Mach1 is a mix of 1996-1998 Cobra and 1999+ Cobra and will kill both.

I agree with CODYSS. A stock GT was never impressive to me either. A 05-06 GT is pretty decent, but nothing impressive. I know a stock 05-06 GT is slightly slower than a Stock SRT4 and so I would say stock for stock (SS/SC ancd 05-06 GT) its a drivers race...

We should be able to race in a couple weeks. I just wasnt sure how those N/A Cobras ran. I think its pretty crazy that our 2.0L getting 30+ mpg can still run with a damn 4.6L v8. Gotta love the eaton!

It is fun whooping on V8's especially when they want to play from a roll.

Typical Mustang guy will run aside you smiling like he's king **** then stomp it. Five minutes later he's on the phone asking his buddy what the hell a Cobalt SS has in it.

HAHA yep, exactly. I haven't honestly raced anyone yet. I want to see how this ST2 holds up. I had some Hyundai Elantra or whatever the heck it was try to race me. That was kind of funny. Besides that, I havent ran anything at all. I am kinda babying it too. Getting 30 some mpg is pretty nice.
