There is a post on here somewhere about detector placement.

Something about higher better for radar and lower for laser.

velcro the top of the mirror, place the radar on top of it,this way it is also not as visible and then you can also run your wire inside the headiner down the A pillar abd under the dash keeping it discreet

Radar dectectors do not work. They only work if an officer has his radar on.

I wired mine into the sunroof power switch, and have it cliped to the visor. The dector points up toward the ceiling a bit which is kinda annoying, but other then that it's great. I have laser turned off on the detector since if it detects radar your allready tagged by the cop and screwed, plus for whatever reason my detector started going nuts giving a ton of false laser warnings. My radar reception doesn't seem to have changed at all from when I had the detector mounted on the windshield.

As for radar detectors not working...mine has saved me from 1 ticket deffinatly, probably a couple more. Many times you can pickup the cop triggering his radar on people ahead of you, and some cops just leave the radar on continuosly (lol). Keep in mind that a radar detector saving you from 1 ticked pays for itself, even the expensive ones (mine was $325 IIRC). If I do get pulled over and I have the detector mounted on the dash I pull it off the dash and toss it behind the seat before the cop comes up .

On a side note, the only speeding ticket I've ever gotten was in my winter beater without the radar detector in the car .

My radar detector is an Escort Passport 8500 X50 (blue display).

I love my 8500 X50, the 9500i looks nice but my 8500 X50 works as well as any radar detector could be expected too.
