Rally Cobalt
Rally Cobalt
Seeing the current mess on the side of my car (it is now 10x worse than in the following pictures, a brown vehicle) leads me to wonder if anybody has built a rally themed Cobalt? I drive through mud, dirt, snow, etc. all the time due to living in the Dakota Territories, and that would make it a practical theme. I would love to lower it and slap on some 18s, but I don't believe those would mix with ND very well and my need to get to school and work and save money to work on my pickup. As is, the LS sits up pretty high now, so some more aggressive grips on 10 spoke wheels and maybe a few lights up front.
Anyways, here's a pic how she looked a few days ago when I was taking some pics in one of our test fields. And there is some nice wax under that dirt, so she'll clean up no big deal.
(oh look there's some 20% tint, debadged sides and back, and a red bowtie also, my bad)

You do have to admit it sits high enough to start pulling the look off. I don't think AWD is necessary to run on dirt, and some ice racers use FWD to pull themselves through the corners with the back end stabilizing them through the slide. In AWD, they all slide and no wheels keep traction on the loose surface. I want to see some more discussion on this, as I may try it if my new business venture works out in the next few months and I can build a light bar.
Personally, I've previously always driven pickups (mainly 4WD) and I never even engaged the front axle unless there was more than 6 inches of snow or I was going through a muddy field, so it's not always about the wheels getting the power, it could be the nutcase behind the wheel.
(I spent $6 pressure washing the dirt off the above vehicle today, it has returned to shinny red and a dull black underside.)

Thay call that muddin? Pretty sad if you ask me, I went through puddles 6-9" deep and down 30+ miles of dirt road in the rain to get like above, he's just driving through a dirt lot, and that ain't even dirty.
I'll update ya'll in a few months if I actually do the lights and tires.
