random key question...lol

I'm a valet. So I have some time for random thoughts to go through my head. Here's on of them.

When you go to a GM dealership to get a key coped, you get the normal one made for the car. However, can I get my Cobalt key copied onto another newer GM blank? Such as the rubberish one from the latest Cavaliers...or something like that? I know you could do that with the 80's GM's as long as the letters matched. As in, you could use a gold Cadillac C and D key on a C and D Chevy.

U can use the 05-06 Corvette keys, which are about 20 USD cheaper. Go figure!!!

20 dollars cheaper? Where the heck do you guys buy your keys? lol. I got one for my Monte at the dealership AND cut for like 10 dollars. lol. Maybe 8 even. I'm not quite sure.

Does the Corvette one just have the bowtie, or is it the Corvette flag logo?

So I can't use a newest style Cavalier one? I like the fact that they're smaller...

A chunkier version of every other newer GM key out there. lol. It almost looks exactly like my Monte key.

I'm no locksmith, but some keys are shaped differently and have deeper groves then others, so you might consider that before you try coping keys.

I know. But like I said, you could use any key in the old GM's as long as the letters matched. A to A. B to B. And the like. I didn't know if GM had anything like that now....
