i dont see why you wouldnt just install sum LEDs in the fog light housing its self and wire it to a switch... that way you can run your fogs and be legal, and u can turn off the fogs hit the switch and the inside will glow red, i did it on my buddies lancer but with purple LEDs and it looks sick.....
sorry for the shitty quality i was drunk that night taking pics but u should get the point

if its for show purposes make sure u get some wigwags. i love cars that have the triple blinking lights kinda like how pace cars have them. where the left headlight turns on and the right fog light. they blink like 3 times then alternate to the right headlight and the left fog light and they blink 3 times and repeat
and red lights on the front arent just illegal cus it mimics emergency vehicles. its because they can look like taillights and if ur tired at night heading towards a car with red lights on the front you might have a tendency to follow them... and then boom head on crash. i almost smoked a vehicle a couple months back with red lights on the front. i figured there was something on the right side of the road and the car in front of me changed lanes to move around something... so i naturally kinda moved over encase there was something in the ditch or a hitch hiker or anything. then it kinda clicked that it looked like the red lights werent staying ahead so i went ooo **** its not moving so i slammed the brakes got back into my lane threw on the highbeams on to see what was going on. then the car blew by me probably obvious that we were probably 200 feet away from being in a head on accident with each other...

Red Fog Lights can penetrate fog better then white. This is because red has a longer wavelengh and will not scatter as much in the fog. But the dude 411 makes a VERY good point about head on collisions.

Just drill and fit a wide angle LED in the housings, while keeping the existant bulbs in tack, have them run off a separate switch. No reason to get pulled over for something like this.
