Hi guys,
I was just curious if this is normal or not.
When I am in neutral and press in the clutch (all the way to the floor-always) then slide my selector leftward and up into first, I feel a thump.
It feels as though my engine and transmission engage and ever so slightly apply torque to the drive-train...making a thump.
I've driven plenty of stick shifts, none of which thumped like this when selecting first. My Fiero didn't do it (Even immediately after I installed a performance clutch), my S-10 pickup didn't do it, my Nissan XE pickup didn't do it, my 78 Nova with an M21 doesn't do it- I've driven a mix of cable select, linkage select, and direct select type transmissions... many many cars I've driven never seemed to do this.
Does anybody ELSES SS thump occasionally when going into first? All I can think of is that it may need to be bled, but the dealership said they won't bleed it unless it needs it.
