ok, my bad.
I misread this;
apparently I didn't read your post closely enough because I saw 235 vs 240.
my bad.

ok, maybe you misread my post - or confused me with another - because I had no graphs, or calculations in my post. Ronn had some graphs, and I gave links to a horsepower calculator... but that's it.

I'm not playing any numbers game.
I'm just stating the truth. Note that I like both cars. I'm not trying to make the SS/TC look like it is not that far off from a SS/SC. I wanted to get things straight for people who dont know.
Also where are you getting this 5whp from??
I said the stock SS/SC is more like 230-235bhp not whp. It is still 30bhp short of a stock SS/TC, but it is not 55bhp short like all the magazines claim. This is what I was trying to make clear.
I also know that a stock SS/TC is faster stock for stock. No need to waist your time showing me graphs, calculations, etc. I've been around the Cobalt seen for a while now.

Did ya see the difference in TORQUE CURVES??? ..
HUGE. Stock for Stock>>> @5000 RPM SC Torque is around 180 FT Lbs..TC is 260 Ft lbs (both to the crank for reference). That's an 80 Ft Lb difference right there!. Plus the SC curve is *peaky* whereas the TC is as flat as Kansas! That's what really set's them apart as far as straight ahead performance.

Also, go look up a real SS/TC dyno graph. The torque curve is no where near that flat. Lets quit filling this thread with nonsense, and let it get back on topic. If you feel the need to cont. to argue numbers feel free to PM me.
just to try to stop any graph disputes between you two, here is the one from GM Tuner Source;

on the stock LNF cars, the ECM severely limits the torque curve - so it is quite flat.

Dude let it go. I was never claiming a stock SS/SC is faster/more powerful than a stock SS/TC.

You're trying to MINIMIZE the difference in power between the two...it ain't trivial and that's what I was responding to. It's misleading to say it's *only* a 30 HP difference..
it's 80 FT Lbs where it counts.
OK..I'm done.

I own an ss/sc and only complaint I have is the seats are not very comfy. Never been in an ss/tc and my car only has 22000 miles and I owe 3k so i don't plan on getting rid of it unless I got some good cash for it. I either plan on different supercharger like m90 or twincharge or turbo swap

My two cents
I'm a newcomer here, but let me lay out a challenge. Last year, I shopped the country on the internet car buying sites and found a one owner 2007 Cobalt SS coupe, with 37,000 miles, for $12,500. I did a title search, had the car inspected, then bought it and had it trucked to me. I then took it to Hahn Racecraft, where the supercharger and related equipment were replaced with a Stage 5 turbo kit and 3" catback exhaust.
So I now have a car in beautiful shape inside and out, with 380 hp at the engine and 330 at the wheels. I'm doing 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds, and no car that has challenged me on the street has even come close. Currently, Hahn assures me it will run in the 12's and with an added boost controller (which would cost only a few hundred dollars) it would generate 425 hp and run in the mid 11's.
Bottom line: the total cost of this beast (including a TWM short shifter and radar detector) was approximately $21,000. I don't know of any other car out there you can get that is THIS fast and THIS cheap. Do you?

Dynoed 300 HP at the wheels (see my photo link here)..retune increased to 308.
OK..your car is a bit faster. Want to do a *ricer test* for me to compare our cars?
Take it from 60-100 in 3rd gear and time it with a stop watch. Let me know.
Keep in mind... my car has NO BOLT ONS.....yet
TC>>>Suspension....brakes
.Not knocking your set up..very nice..but to answer your question:
I'll take my deal over yours.
Hey ronn, cool car! And a great deal. No doubt about that.
I don't think that you will ever outrun me, however, in any gear or at any speed without bolt on upgrades of the stock turbo system and exhaust system, which simply do not match up to the Hahn aftermarket products. Not only is it a hp issue, but also the narrower standard issue exhaust does not allow for maximum turbo efficiency. But obviously your car is damn fast and does have attributes that mine does not.
Mine also came with a leather interior, power sun roof, Pioneer audio system, and other sorts of upscale creature comforts. Does the stock turbo version have these as well?
Bottom line is that BOTH Cobalts, SJ and TC, can be made into monsters without too much outlay. Can't go wrong either way.

I'm sure you love your car as much as I love mine....that's a good thing. These cars are very special.
Nice chat'n with ya!
i love my sc never driven a turbo but i wanna be different than every other 4 cylinder out there with a turbo so what if the turbos are faster stock? maybe i like the whine of a supercharger lol and maybe ill have a tvs next time we race lol just sayin
all cars are a waste of money they depreciate in value every mile you drive get ******* used to it. I can't ******* stand some of the negativity on this site it is like walmart on a saturday morning.
I'm glad i missed this thread the first time around..... hope it stays dead after this . The SS/SC is a lot better car than some TC owners give it credit for .... it's not always about peak numbers , powerbands also play a big part in how these cars pull .

If I had an SC Stage 2 with the same milage as your TC (with mods) would ya take my car and $5k for a swap?
