a SECRET TSB I thought everyone should know about
Thanks for the info fr33k.
Looks like my car falls within those dates. With the cams, I'd figure I would have already shattered the timing chain if it was a non heat-treated one. I'll keep an eye out, though. Thanks for the heads up!!!

So I posted a video of this rattle, the video is backwards but you can hear it nice and loud.

Mine does this too. I also just lost 5th gear due to a bent fork because apparently the fellow that owned it before me was a fat man and drove with his weight on the shifter cruising in 5th (bad habit) and now I have the transmission out. I figured while I have the tranny out I'll go ahead and crack open the engine and fix this. Does anyone have the part number for a replacement heat treated timing tensioner? Or maybe a website or parts outlet with aftermarket options? Sure would save time trying to talk to a moron on the phone at GM trying to track the part down.
I also think I have either a bad SC bearing going out or a weak accessory belt tensioner as I also have a on again off again squeaking noise coming from the engine bay. Kind of a chirp/squeak noise that's audible about 75% of the time at all operating conditions. That'll be a little harder to pinpoint but I'll probably start with some soap on the belt and if it goes away then I'll know it's not the SC bearings.

I think I may have this problem now. LOL
Changed the timing chain tensioner to no avail. Still have lots of rattling/ticking in the timing chain area along with the occasional stumble.
Taking it to the dealer Monday.

Just to clarify, your exhaust issue wouldn't cause this. They're completely separate issues. In MY case I had a whole bunch of things go wrong all at once. Just bad luck I guess. If you're concerned enough about it then by all means take it to the dealer.
