Shift knobs for base model Cobalts

I have a 2007 Cobalt LS base model and I was wondering if you can change the shift knob (not short shifter) with an aftermarket one?? And if so, how?? thanks

Yeah, you can switch them out with anything. I've got a yellow shift knob and boot in my car. The shifter boot is held down by two clamps at the base of the shifter. All it takes is a small screwdriver and a fine touch and you can pop it out with ease.

I don't think the shaft on the LS is threaded...so you might have to look into getting a universal knob that has screws or some other way to secure it on there. I think someone posted how to take the stock knob off as well...might wanna do a quick search on that, it will help a ton.

I've got some photos of my shift knob install. I'll try to post those tomorrow. It's not too difficult. You just have to make sure that you don't snap the plastic ring at the bottom of the boot. Even if you do it doesn't make that much of a difference; I did it to mine and its fine.
