Make sure they use MOBIL 1 synthetic, usually the free changes only cover non synth. oil You may have to pay the difference but it'll be worth it

The site's been sorta funny like that all day. I had one earlier where a post disappeared then right after that I thought another one wasn't going to go through, so I ALMOST clicked submit again and just then it showed my post.

yea i noticed the site has been very slow today, wonder whats going on behind the scenes. Anywho i also got a free lube change from my dealer but i didnt bother with even trying to turn it in. I have a 2.2L and they told me it had regular oil in it from the factory and not synthetic. I figured they would prolly only cover what it came with from the factory so i just went out and bought some mobil 1 synthetic and a filter and did the change myself. I was surprised...on conventional oil i got 6300 miles before my oil life meter read around 19%. I didnt want to push the envelope any furture before changing it and I must say the oil was no dirtier than any other change i have done at the routine 3000. Cant wait to see how far the synthetic goes. I was told that the computer can tell the difference between the two oils but we will see. All i know if that with the synthetic it sounds the engine isnt as loud as it was before. Sounds like everything is running a bit smoother

Do all Cobalts come with Mobile 1 synthetic (even the bases, LS's, LT's, and SS's)?

From what i was told only the SS supercharged model comes with synthetic. I got this information from GM directly when they called to see how I liked my recently purchased cobalt and make sure i knew how to operate all the different options and to answer any questions i may have. At this time i asked them about the type of oil they put in the engines at the factory and if the oil life meter could detect the difference or if i would have to have computer reflashed to compensate if i choose to use synthetic instead of conventional

Computer can't tell if you've switched to synthetic or vise versa.

according to engineers at GM it there is some sort of way that it can tell. Like i said before tho we will see if the synthetic lasts any longer than the conventional according to the life meter. I'm only repeating what i have been told

My oil changes cost me around $55 but it dosent bother me cause i have the dealer go over everything while there at it. Also my sister got an 06 eclipse and she gets free oil changes for life but the dealer is 2 hours away so its not really worth it.

It was like 21-22k I had a supplier discount which saved me some monies. I got Onstar, Sunroof, Gap coverage, And extended warranty. They had some new program which released that same day for free oil changes. The sticker on the vehicle was 24k and some change.
