I have had the wheels swapped on two different vehicles that I have purchased. The first one was my 01 WS6 they made a mid year change on the wheels and I wanted the older type. The second one was my 04 Z71 I wanted the 17" wheels and the 6 disc in dash player instead of the cd/tape combo, I only paid the price difference. They are able to print a new window sticker when they do this for the vehicle that they take the items from. Just last month my dad got them to swap a MP3 playing head unit into his 2.4 SS for the regular head unit. Another problem with these cars is GM is stating that the 2.4 SS has a Z rated tire on the sticker and it dont.

I want the 16's for mine as well, and had been looking to buy a used set, but I'll probably end up getting them new from GM. Sure, they're expensive, but I get a $100-per-wheel break at employee price. If I'm going to spend good money on wheels for a car that I plan on keeping, I want to make sure they're not going to show up at my door with peeling clearcoat and curb rash...

Yep they do that. Some dealers like to do factory mods on the cars, trick them out, lower them, change out suspensions, rims, etc. Then sell them for a premium or use them as a display piece to help draw in buyers.

So swapping parts sometimes does happen AT the dealer level.

Red line wheels will not fit any other satern. Most of all they will not fit the SL1 as its a 4 lug car and the Redline is a 5 lug car. It was probably just a set of rims that looked like the redline rims.
But part swaping and such gose on at dealers all the time. And cars leav the factory with the wrong parts all the time to. My moms 94 camaro Z28 had the V6 cars rims on it when it came in. We ordered the car and I was there when It came off the truck and pointed out that it has the steels and hubcaps on it not the Z rims.
The dealer fixed it befor we took the car home.

I find it hard to believe there is never a mistake on the assembly line...everyone makes mistakes.
