Last week I was cruisin' the 2.4L SS rental and came across some dumb-ass ricers in a modded 2.0L Sentra nearly causing wrecks left and right. It just so happened that we stopped side-by-side at a light and they looked over at me as I looked over at them and shook my head. They laughed like they saw something funny, so I put them in their place three times since we were in an area with no traffic. After they got a thorough ass kicking I had too look over at them and laugh as I made my turn.

I don't see the insult in having the Cobalt called a Cavalier. Cavaliers were good cars that proved reliable, they just had crappy interiors and certain traits, good and bad.

 

Aren't SRT-4 and NEONs just a Dodge Colt?

 

I just **** in their face when anyone says i'm driving a cavalier. That seems to shut them up.

they obviously arent the same cars, there were 2005 cavaliers and 2005 cobalts out at the same time..when i bought my first cobalt i considered getting a cavalier because it was like 10k$ but cobalts look way better

 

well, it gets even better...I simply explained how these two cars share no similarities and this is his response...

"And the SRT-4 isn't a neon, right?"

So I took the advice from here and wrote...

"oh, so I drive a Chevy Cavalier Cobalt SS, boy, did the dealer screw me over. You're absolutely right."

By stating that, he is trying to say the cobalt is a modified version of the cavalier....hmmm...They must have done a full chassis swap, motor swap, body swap, etc. You name it...it was swapped. I never even knew.

 

hay now mini's have thier place in this world.... when i say place I mean that one parallel parking spot this is just too small for your car.... lol
yeah i hate peple that think they know what they are talking about, and all you think is "wow what the **** are you talking about?" and smile and nod. I encounter a lot of these people; i just let the next person deal with thier ignorance.

 

you guys are saying how the srt4 looks just like a neon, but you are forgetting one thing:

the srt4 IS a neon!!!

there is no way around that!!

the cobalt is NOT a cavalier, in no way, shape, or form!

 

i actually got told my power steering was going out once when they hear the supercharger and i said its cool you still want to race? and they kinda shut up at that point.

 

I actually had an old acquantance say "nice cavalier". I politely made him aware that the Cobalt SS/SC and the Cavalier probably don't share a single nut. I also made him come look at the car and asked him if he wanted to race.

He told me he had an early nineties silverado with a blower. I said "man thats awesome, how much boost are you running?"

He replied "i don't know, it was installed by the previous owner and i don't think its hooked up right now........"

I have also been told that all Cobalt SS/SC are slow by a different guy who supposedly had a 450hp SRT-4 that he recently totaled out.

So whose car is sitting washed and waxed 20 yards away and whose car is sitting in a junk yard collecting dust?

My point: People who make insulting, ignorant, and otherwise "douchebag" statements are the guys who ride to the car shows and race tracks in there friends/moms cars.

 

yeah theres a guy i know in town that tried telling me his girlfriends aveo has the same exact engine as my cobalt. i'm like yeah...its an ecotec but its like a 1.6 liter or something. he's like nope its a 2.2 like yours.. i seriously wanted to laugh but i just shrugged.

he also said hte only reason i beat him is because it was an auto

 

LMAO...that's funny..I got to work one night and it was pooring rain, so I was sittin in my ride getting my stuff together when one of the security guards rolled up next to me in his old beat ass acura. He had his window down smoking a cigarette. I got out and the first thing he said to me was "I know what would beat that." I was like, oh yeah?? He was like, " SRT4" I started laughing. I said ok, stock for stock it's more of a drivers race. He was like "no way man, they run 14's.."I said so do these..No way man, he replies..I was gettin soaked, so I was like, that's why I was reeling one in when he got the jump on me. He said "we'll see when I get mine." I was like whatever son. I can't get over that. Sorry to thread steal, but had to tell my story.

 

Yeah, that's the whole point.

 

Just say hey, if i have a supercharged cavalier, you've got a turbo charged Neon.

 

I agree with everything but the cooper is a waste of money line. The cooper is a blast to drive, it's so small and you can throw it around like it's a rag doll. Coopers are lots of fun.

As for the Cavy comment. Who cares? Are you in high school because honestly once you get in the big boy world, no one cares about that crap any more. Drive what you have and either like it or trade it. If others are worried about what YOU are driving then they are just masking some insecurity they have and the problem is theirs not yours.

I was at a cruise in one night, and as soon as I get out of my car a guy comes up to me and says "How do you like your detuned K20?" At first I thought he was joking. Then he proceeded to talk and I realized he was serious. I just let him ramble on and I took the first oppurtunity to walk away.

 

Yeah I was at a light and a cavalier pulled up next to me full with white fly boys and one yells out (not even looking in my direction) "Its NOT a cavalier" like wtf?? I guess he must know his ****. None the less I ******* floored it for their own amusement.

 

What's funny is tht nearly every person I meet that know nothing about our cars ask me if it's rear wheel drive. Are you f'ing kidding?? Wow. The turbocharged questions are amusing too.

 

lmao. I sometimes get that around here. People ask me what car im buyin and i say "Cobalt SS" and they laugh and say its a supercharged cavy! Please a stock cobalt coupe can beat a cavy with mods..but a cobalt with some mods will kill cavys. Now don't get me wrong, Cavy's are cool -they're chevy and I'm gunna race one at Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL but still - people need to stop comparing the Cobalt to the car it replaced. I bet im gunna start hearing "The G5 is just a tuned Sunfire"...BS. But heck, the SRT4 is just a tuned of factory dodge neon

Well, I think it just comes down to people not knowing any facts about the car. For example, when he said...

"It's just not peppy enough from the factory." "For 25k, I'd rather have an RSX type S or new Civic SI."

That made me laugh considering the cobalt is rated faster than both of those. This guy is killing me!
