Spec clutch

hey guys now that the stage kits are out i think alot of us are going to be needing to upgrade our clutches. For those of you who have upgraded the clutch in the 2.0 already (with or without kits) please do a write up of what type of clutch you have and your opinions of it, and how it holds the power you are running.

I too chose the clutchmasters with all the fixings because in Canada the price is actually less for me to get it than Spec and I have been told good things about the FX300.

I dont know about the Cobalts, but I know a few guys wth cars like mine that have had issues with spec. I dont know if they even make clutches for cobalts, but McLeod is an excellent clutch! a bit pricier than spec or centerforce, but worth it imo.

then again the spec clutches could be just fine for cobalts.

Im passing on the spec clutch. A lot of people in the my car club has had problems with it in the fbodies. Though, the clutch they make for the T-56 and the clutch they make for our cars are completelt different im sure.

id say clutchmasters fx300, but i dont even know alot, im just goin by what ive read about it, and it looks promising, can hold alot of hp/torque and maintains the stock feel when clutch is engaged.

I don't give a f### about f-bodies, fox bodies or any other car joe blow drives! All i care about is how it works in MY COBALT

Now for the stats,
SPEC Stage2+ Fidanza flywheel, 20+ passes down the 1/4 now, 6 dyno pulls, and driven hard daily! 3K to 3.5K dumping the clutch launches!

ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS! Works like a charm everytime i drive it. Easy pedal effort and amazing gripping quality. I have 3500 miles on my clutch and believe me, they haven't been very nice miles

It is the stage 2+

I changed nothing else as i only had 1500 miles on the car.

We don't have a "throw out bearing" in the regular sense.

Depending on your milage you might want to think about replacing the throwout bearing. The part retails for $110 at a dealership. I've got 21,000 miles on my car so I'm going to have it replaced when my clutch goes in.

The Spec clutches do not come with one but the Clutch Masters do.

I have the Spec Stage 3 clutch w/ lightened option and the Spec Aluminum flywheel! Did proper break in time and some. did 800 miles without any beating. When that was done I have been beating the **** out of it. Atleast 50 1/4 2 dyno pulls, launching anywhere from 2,500-5,500 and no slipping! Holds all the power. Im doing 280 WHP right now and no problems at all. Got installed with no problems also! I love it!
