Speedometer question

I was just wondering if the speedometer was calibrated by the size of the front or rear wheels.

i thought it was rear because when my tires spin the speedo doesn't climb

and what he's asking is if the SIZE of the wheels can change the speedo. idk on that one i think so though

yes. size WILL change the speed. you have to get it re-calibrated if you get bigger wheels. or smaller. lol..

or even higher or lower aspect ratio on the same wheel, you would need to re-calibrate it

your speedo runs off a sensor on your transmission IIRC. so if you spin your speedo climbs.. change the tire size and the distance you cover with each RPM will change. it's drive wheel dependant since they are the only ones directly connected to your transmission.
