wow are you ******* stupid. let me ask you a question. if you were to look at a 07 ss/na and an 08 sport from the outside and they were both badged with the "ss" badge, could you tell them apart?

thank you.

Yep, I would look at the 10th digit of the VIN.

You could do a nice little custom fab... Take a 2.4 emblem from an audi...And pair it with a VVT-I toyota badge... Put the two together and break the I part off... Both badges are on ebay

You know, I was actually thinking of doing that my self. Cept I didn't know where I'd get the 2.4 numbers from. But now I do I wouldn't put the VVT on mine though.

Holy crap guys you are getting all offended by the OP because he wants to put a SS badge. Don't get all high and mighty about you Cabalt SS. Remember you are driving a DAMN COBALT SS. The fact the SS badge is used on a lame car like the Cobalt is an insult the the SS name plate to begin with. So before being critical of others look in your own driveway

I'm amazed by how offended people get by some one ELSE doing something to THEIR car. Yes they are right, the 08 is not an SS but it has everything the 07 SS had and more (except the badges.) There's nothing wrong with what some one wants to do with their own car, you don't have to agree with it but don't make a pissing match out of it and get yourself banned.

Anyways, I like this idea. PM'ing OP.

I thought the 2.4 IONs had "2.4" badging as well.

Very few. Nowadays it's full of newcomers like Perfect.disguise, INDColtsFan18, and marcusicp that think they are the hot stuff of this site and talk down to people like you for suggesting something so trivial as an emblem on the car.

To them: It's a badge. Stop embarrassing this site with your ignorant attitudes.

To Quickshift: Do it and take pics. Post them here just to tick off the high and mighty "true" SS owners. I think it's hilarious to see them get riled up over this stuff.

There's a guy in here that whipped up a 2.4 badge that looked pretty badass. I can't find the thread though. It was about 1 1/2 yrs ago that he did it.

I can't think of anyone doing an SS/NA badge though, Good idea for 2006-2007. But what's wrong with being a sport?

Holy sweet Jesus some of you people are ignorant *****. You really get pissed off this much because of a bloody badge on the back of a car? On the ******* internet? Grow the **** up. An 07 SS/NA and an 08 Sport is the SAME ******* CAR. GM just decided to replace the SS badge with a Sport badge for 08. Why is this so god damned hard to understand?
</vent>

Now that I got that out, I'll show the OP what I have. I have an 07 SS/NA, but since I wanted to better differentiate myself from the SS/SC and SS/TC vehicles, I ordered some numbers from www.youremblem.com and put them where the supercharged or turbocharged badge usually goes.

I put the 2.4 emblem from the Ion on my trunk lid on the right side opposite the SS Emblem (there is a thread on this with pictures, search for "2.4 emblem"). I did it because people assume I have a supercharger or Turbocharger besause of the SS badges.

Saturn Ion 2.4 Emblem Part number is 15139655 -- I ordered mine from CED (crateenginedepot.com)

Quickshift, I have a trunk lid and high rise spoiler on my car right now from an '07 ss/sc. It still has the SS badge on it because Im too lazy to take it off If you don't mind a used badge, I'll take it off and sell it. PM me if your interested with a price.

Why is it SO important to have an SS badge on a car that GM decided was a Sport.
You're entitled to your feelings that they are the same car, just like these other guys are entitled to feeling that it is not. You are the one who started cursing like a spoiled 12 yr old and yet you are telling us to grow up?
In the end, the it's the OP's car and he can do whatever he wants with it. But he's submitting himself to public scrutiny so he might as well accept that as part of the trials of doing any sort of modification to his car. If I came on here and asked how I could go about replacing my antenna with a 12 inch long brown *****;
60% of the people would say that was the stupidest thing the've ever heard of
20% of people would say it was hilarious
10% of people would call me a *** without offering anything constructive
5% of people would suggest either a glue epoxy or possibly drilling into the body
5% would make fun of me for not colormatching with my car.

The reason GM changed the name of the 2.4 to Sport is simple... ignoring the fact that the LSJ was underrated, it was two SS cars with a difference of about 35 rated bhp. They knew what kind of numbers the SS/TC was going to be making, and it wasn't reasonable to badge the 2.4 as SS when there was another Cobalt making 50% more power.

As for 2.4 SS owners that complain that people mistake their car for being supercharged... just debadge your damn trunk. Looks cleaner.

And for the OP... neat idea I suppose... I wouldn't really want to advertise the fact that I have an SS/NA in the sense that the majority of cars are N/A and it's not something you really need to badge. I say either fully debadge, or run down to Saturn and get the 2.4 badge and be done with it.

badging your car as something its not, is a bit of a car enthusiast taboo.

Ask yourself why GM would go to the trouble of changing the badging, that costs money....
and its no doubt that the SS badge would draw customers more than "sport" would.

so why did they do it?

the answer to that question, is the reason people get annoyed over you rebadging however you wish.

Even at shows with the hood open you wouldn't believe how many people poke their head under my hood and look all around the intake and radiator looking for my supercharger or Turbo Then i spend a few minutes explaining the Cobalt engine options.....
