SS/SC problems, GTO test drive

I've driven both the '04 and '06 gtos, they are VERY noticeably faster then an SS/SC.
To the poster who said the GTO and SS/SC's 1/4 miles are similar......the 6.0's will go 12's stock with decent tires. You're not going to find a stock SS/SC that goes anywhere close to that.
If anybody is beating a GTO with a stock SS/SC, its either because the driver of the GTO was missing shifts, or the driver wasn't racing you in the first place

Going by "feel" is not a scientific measurement.
Some fast cars do not "feel" as fast as they are and some slow cars "feel" faster then they are.
Nonetheless a GTO would beat a S/C without too mucn difficulty

Yes but I drove an auto '06 and it didn't feel a whole lot faster on top end than the 2.0L
The Autos are at a disadvantage because of the gearing, the manuals have steeper transmission gears than the auto does because its configured for 6 forward gears vs. 4. Its not real bad through 3rd, but anything after that and the auto will start to loose more and more to a 6speed.
That being said, The LS1 GTO can hit mid low 13s with a good driver, i've seen it multiple times. The same can't be said for even the best stock LT1 fbodies.

GTO Romps
The GTO is hands down better than the Charger. Haven really driven both and put them through the paces, the GTO is simply a better performer. The LS1 engine is bullet proof...Just purchased new 2.4 Cobalt SS, alsp a blast to drive. Any thoughts on how to increase engine performance?
Guys don't get to worked up as I know more about LS1/LS2 than I know about LSJ's but 90% of the 2004 GTO's will not see better than high 13's at best.
And from a roll a stock SS/SC may have it's hands full but a Stage 2 or better will kill it dead and badly.

I am sick of all the little **** breakin on my ss/sc as well, so my buddy works for honda and i am heading there tonight to test drive the civic for 2 major reasons. My car value is worth **** right now cause it's a chevy and I am sick of the cheap plastic interior that keeps breaking and scratching. It is a fun car to drive and as far as the chasis and engine are, they are fine it is just the fit and finish that is bothering me. Sorry to say but it will bw nothing but imports for me from now on........

and codyss if you knew anything you would know that a gto can EASILY get into mid to low 13's with any combination of Intake, Headers, or Exhaust. ive most recently seen 13.09 at rockingham by a guy with intake and slp loudmouth...
the ss/sc has to have friggin dr's and a friggin stage 4 or whatever they are up to now to get to 13.5 and lower
you people need to quit spreadin the lies and see the light. v8>you all unless the v8 cant drive. like i even said, on a 20 roll, its about even till you get to the top of 3rd gear, after 4th gear begins its like the gto has an extra set of legs. it will walk you, and you will loose if the guy knows how to drive worth his weight in ****...
traction control off ftw.
Thats great but PLEASE LEARN HOW TO READ we were taliking stock GTO's here!
And also keep in mind that a stock 2005-2006 could easily beat a 2004 with minor mods. And I would hope that a 2004 with headers and a full exhuast could do better than 13.08 since the same on my otherwise stock LS1 Camaro SS netted me mid 12's on street tires.
And a LS1 GTO is a fat ass pig from a roll and doesn't go into warp drive in any specific gear either. There just as slow from 25mph to 80mph as they are 80mph to 130mph.
Looks like your the one spreading the bullshit..........

hell even when i had my modded s/c and was running the ABSOLUTELY STOCK GTO, (which is what im talking about the 20mph roll race i did) which is when it began to walk when shifting to 4th, and yes, im talking it walked at least a car and a half before i would let off
so just ******* eat me cody...if itll make you happy, ill call the ****** that was driving and ill have him call you and tell you the same thing. with you and your know all end all attitude, just makes you a ******* ignorant bastard and a shame to this community. you ever think that you just might be wrong? PLEASE LEARN HOW TO READ we arent talking camro's here, we are talking GTO's and SS/SC's...just go away...
im with hotsauce for the rest of this thread...its just useless
for those of you that beleive the 6.0l and the 5.7l are so different let me tell you a little story. My best friend has the 5.7 and his cousin has the 6 his cousin was talking all this **** about it and then they raced. Barely by the skin of his teeth did he beat the 5.7 To the wheels the HP difference and TQ difference our minimal. Also I drove my best friends GTO and I too noticed it didn't feel fast. This is mostly due to the big plush leather seats. So I had my friend race me when I was stock and he blew my doors off. So feel and function are two different things. Drive a v12 mercedes 500 series. Doesnt feel fast. But it hauls ass.

Actually, you're wrong.... 4 cyl> v8's because of gas prices and gas mileage.
... Sheesh, I see a lot of people talking crap about GTO's... I agree with Dman.... Go drive that Mercedes, that thing has so much power it would blow your mind. The luxury in the car makes it seem like ur not flying, or getting trown into ur seat by sheer 400+ HP. And then go get in ur SS S/C and go race a GTO 5.7 L or 6.0L * both stock * You will get ur ass handed to you by ther GTO hands down im sorry. (make sure the guy in the GTO knows ur racing too). I have a 2.4L Cobalt SS, and I love it, so I have nothing against the Cobalt what so ever.
