SS/SC Questions

i am new to this forum and i have a few questions about the ss/sc. i have to sell my lt1 z28 because i am throwing tons of money in it. going fast is not cheap lol. i am a die hard chevy lover so i think i am going to buy a 06 or 07 ss/sc.

this will be my daily driver and i want to put BASIC mods on it. mainly i want that eaton to scream loud. what is the smallest size pulley i can install w/o new injectors and a tune? i want to get an intake too. What do yall recommend? and thats it for mods. i need to save money for another lt1 f-body.

thanks

I wouldn't go too small w/o injectors, but stage II might be your best bet. There's a bunch of nice intakes out there. I have the K&N Typhoon intake and i like it a lot. It's loud as hell.

no pulley with out injectors and a tune. you'll at LEAST need a tune to safely run any smaller pulley. if you want the whine, just get the intake. that makes the most difference in sound.

if you are saving money to buy another F-body, dont spend the cash on an ss/sc. buy a cheaper cobalt.

stock, dont just throw a pulley on, the injectors are kinda small to do that. get the gm stage 2 kit, or a stage 1 then get the shorter belt and a 2.85" pulley. thats about the smallest you can go before maxing out the stage 2 injectors. also go with an aftermarket intake, itll whine quite nicley. thats what im running, in town people are looking around to see were the noise is comming from.

The Stage II pulley is 3" and GM upgraded the injectors at that size. So my guess would be that anything below 3.1" requires larger injectors. But to be safe don't go smaller than stock prior to upgrading your injectors.

As for the CAI's, most on this forum use INJEN as the most recent poll suggests.
Note that some oil based CAI-filters have caused CELs. To avaid this you could either go with a AEM dry flow CAI or just buy whatever CAI you want and fit the AEM dry flow filter on it.

I would say get the stage 2, then with a 2.9 maybe even 2.8 pulley. Defiantly go get an intake too. Those are pretty basic mods.
