Really??? I was thinking it would be maybe 52k. But yeah I wanted a Z06 so bad. But a job fell through, so I got an STI.

Who is Chris Bangle?? I love the old M Coupes too.

Chris Bangle is chief designer for BMW ...responsible for all designs from the new 7 series to present ....he started off designing the 7 and got promoted to chief some time shortly after the 5 was redesigned ... (noticeable cues include the flatback trunk and rear taillights as well as wave style headlights)

I think the new m3 coupe will safely come in around 60 which is not too far behind the 65 k Z06

EDIT ...I beleive that estimate was based of a SMG equiped version with all the bells and whistles

Seems to be a generational thing ... sales are up with bangle designs however they seem to have lost their young audience (who cant afford the cars) so that’s why they keep promoting him ...I think the 6 series and M6 are pure sex and I cant complain with the 4 ...however IMO he molested the 3 and 5 designs ...though it would be hard to improve on what I believe to be automotive perfection ...subtle styling perfect proportions and aggressiveness in a sedan ...

its fact that the drive train in those cars/ overall package is better than ours .. regardless of if they are your "style" or not there is a reason that they cost more even if its not evident on the surface
I say they aren't better cars because I honestly don't think they are better. I think AWD on a sports car is nothing more than a waste of power, fuel, and extra weight. I'd say about 90% of driving takes place while moving, and AWD is nothing but a handicap once the car is at any speed above a slow roll. If cars like the Viper and Z06 can handle 500+HP with 2WD, theres no reason why a 280HP car can't. Of course people realized that AWD allows for insane launches which results in low 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, and all of a sudden then think they have the fastest car in the world

they are awd to apply to homologation rules for rally cars ...AWD is there for a reason not just for ***** ..they are derived from a racing series and not just intended for street racing

I guess that applies to the Veyron as well ...what a waste of power ... are you trying to say that FWD is the true race drive train layout...

It probably is. Favorite car is Corvette(any and all). First car was/is a 1977 Datsun 280z. Learned to drive stick on CRX SI. 2nd car was an SVT Focus. Now I have an STI. For the most part I LOVE hatch- and fastback cars(a lot of people don't), but I think STIs are very sexy. Kind of warped I guess.

Back on topic, I've had my SRT-4 since 03 and it's a great car to drive, and lots of fun even stock. The wife just got a cobalt SS and it's a great car too, both of these cars are the manufacturers entry cars, neither has a great interior and a lot of people consider both to be ass.

Buy the car that you want honestly not the car people on the net tell you to get, there's pro's and con's to each vehicle you just have to figure out which one has more pro's that suit you.

Yes, bought from original owner in 2003 with 135k on the clock. Maybe LS7 . Like I said I will probably rebuild a IROC 350 with spray much cheaper almost as effective.

haha LS7

realistically the LS6 or LS2 would be much more fiscally benificial ...and as previoulsy discussed I dont like your 350 idea ... spend the bones on a LS6 and sit back and enjoy one of the best swaps out there ...

I'm off for tonight ...

PS I put in an offer on my 1800 so I will see if I get her by next mon

Yeah I thought about the LS2 from a GTO, but you are talking about 6-9k to swap an LS2 versus 2-4k for a 350. Big difference.

Why are people comparing 30 - 60k cars to a 20k vehicle ? How stupid of a conversation this is evolving into. SRT4's are pretty cool I like them. I just wouldn't own one because A this shift knob fell off on test drive. B the seats I didn't like at all. C the back windows were ridiculous. I like the look of them outside when the bug eyes are fixed with eyelits it is all good. The ss/sc is a half second slower in the 1/4 with most drivers. But you will rarely notice the half second difference if at all when on the street.

Thats just for the motor, not all the accesories, tranny, mounts, or driveline. To put an LS7 in my car it would be like 15k.

haha that's actually funny because the one we test drove a few weeks back didn't have a shift knob at all......maybe it's the one you ripped off while you were test driving it...lol j/k

Even if I had the kind of money to spend on a car costing as much as an Evo or STi, neither of those cars would even be considerations. I'd much rather buy a real car, such as a GTO or Mustang Cobra, then spend it on a 4-door family sedan with a huge turbo and an enormous wing.
