SC FTW! Think of all the modding potential. Go turbo, or TVS. All you have to do is build it right to beat the SS/TC's. Yes, tuning is going to be a big hassle with the SS/TC, but not as much as the cost of bigger injectors. Not to mention, I love that the SS/SC has a 4.05 final drive, whereas the SS/TC has a 3.87 final drive. I've heard that the more power you make the more beneficial a larger final drive will be. I could be wrong on that though. And who needs no-lift shift? That's a feature for people who can't drive.

If I wanted a turbo car I wouldn't have bought a Cobalt SS supercharged.

I'm in the middle about the SS/tc as well. I kinda like it, but again there are negatives about it that I'm disappointed about.

domin8_gt says it straight up and is how I feel as well.

A much more efficient supercharger that will really improve the power output of the powertrain. I've heard some mention of potential of up to 325hp with the right tune on a stock LSJ.

I love my ss/sc you cant beat the sound of the supercharger. Im sick of hearing turbo it gets so old after awhile. If i want to drive a LNF ill take my dads hhr ss out for a spin. I get the best of both worlds lol

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Spend the $200 and get a Meth kit. After that tune for the meth kit and you should be happy after that!

I'm personally not worried about the SS/TC. So what if it can beat my SS/SC. Its my 300ZX they are going to have to worry about

I posted a thread on here not logn ago about wanting a new car and now you're seeing just another example why I'm giving up on the cobalt. I'm just gonna stay at Stage 2, stop sinking money into it and when the negative equity goes away: hello new car and I'll just get a car that has more potential. Then a SS/TC will be no problem.

You're kidding, right? Essentially, you're saying "How dare GM build a car that's faster than the one I already have!"

Maybe they should have just stopped building newer and faster models back about 1920 or so. Heck, we wouldn't want those guys who bought Chevrolets back then to feel threatened when the new models passed the 35-HP threshold for the first time.

Here's my break down of the situation....

Our goal as Cobalt owners was to beat a modded SRT-4, right? Well, I guarantee you this the SS/TC will not be beating SRT-4's on the stock turbo.
So really... our goals are the same, and our new challenger isn't anymore crazy than the last one... so what's the big deal?

And... if all else fails, turbo the LSJ....

The stock turbo on the SS/TC is a Borg Warner K04 which has a maximum effeciency psi of 21-22 psi!

From the reports I have seen (the K04 is an upgrade for some Vdubs and Audis) they will spike to 21 psi at 2500 rpms and then hold 19 but slowly loose pressure untill redline! So its a very fast spooling turbo just has no high end holding power!

I sure would like to have the SS/TC and could buy one but, as I told my son, I love the sound of the supercharger whine. Every year someting faster and better comes along. Sure, I will grit my teeth, and it may no longer be at the top of Cobalt mountain, but it does put a smile on my face.....that is what counts.
I have a way to go for an engine R&R but at that point I will purchase a new LSJ, upgrade the valve springs and pistons, and bolt on the TVS. At least I'll be able to hang with newer, faster models.

I just hope that new Cobalt SS/TC owners are not dick's, I think it's cool that the SS/TC came out and I am eager to (at some point) go against one to see how my car performs. I have already surpised many individuals who try to act like my car is slow and then get surprised big time. With my mods, I am about 10 HP off the Stock SS/TC, so I am ok with it. Plus I have many more mods that I have planned for the coming months.

AMEN brother

and to the guy who said im bashing gm, your an idiot(not to be rude).. i have an american flag tattoo that bleeds out of my skin on my right arm, traded my evo bc i was so sick of looking at a japanese made car everyday. my dad lost his job after 20 years at ltv steel, i worked for a cement union the past two years, if anything im a die heart pure american, i wont even buy my food if its imported not even tequila!!!! my license plate says "buy american a**hole" im just feel upset someone could say that,i had an evo and i gave it up!! im gonna be in med school next year i wont be able to spend extra money on a car payment or else i would get it. i do love the feeling about having one of the few 4 banger supercharged engines out there. cant a man be jealous about whats out there thats better (well not better... a little quicker) i would never take an american car company and put them down, thousands of jobs were mad and kept with coming out with this car, yet im jealous bc i cant have it and im bashing gm oh geeze. i apologize if i had an outbreak i want to my feelings shared with my cobaltss brothers most of which ill never meet

maybe i was just posting what other thoughts and wanted to share feelings and thoughts, im glad to get responses..

False. The potential is not 'up to' 325whp, its definitely more.

Well, in my opinion, AS OF NOW, the lsj has more potential then the lnf. The saturn/pontiac lnf guys aren't making power. LSJ you can swap out to a turbo, add some pistons and port the head a bit and you're looking at 400. I haven't seen one lnf yet hit 400....or even 350...I think they are getting close to 300 though if not 300
