I can only hope so for GMs sake. If this car flops its the end. If the tranny holds up like the LSJs then people will no longer trust GM at all in the tuner world. If the tranny can hold up to a 50-trim kit and 400+whp then cobalts are going to be very well respected. The thing is, 50-trim kits are great for SRT-4s but that doesn't mean they will be for cobalts. Different motor, different enginering. A turbo needs to be picked correctly for the mods done to a car. You can't just throw a bigger turbo on and expect the best results. Trust me on that one.

Well... lets think about this... the VW GTI is also as 2.0L turbo... it's a sport compact. Why aren't we getting our asses handed to us by them everyday?

is anyone else hear in the same boat as me pissed that once this ss turbocharged comes out my supercharged ss is gonna feel like the little brother weakling car that gets no respect... i guess im jealous now that im gonna have to sit here and hear all the talk on the turbocharger is this and that. i know i cant get my s/c to break a sub 13 with all this money i already put into it, and now these turbocharged guys are gonna be flying around me and no one is gonna care about my car im upset brothers i always gotta have to best of the best i now im bottom line again. i was rooting for this not to come out, but yet again go america, glad to see people getting paid to et something like this done for our economy but im still jealous, i want one sooo bad but i know i cant afford to trade in my ss/sc, its already paid for.. not many people can say that
i hope i dont hear "oh nice supercharger, too bad its not the turbocharged"

the ss/tc is really only new brakes, new engine, new seats, tweaked suspension
same drab interior (they really need to redo the interior)
but the car's awesome, id buy it if i had most of my car paid off,
but the supercharged ss is unique, what other 4cyl are there with a sc
same trans too in the tc, people are gonna wanna throw a bigger turbo in there, and go for big power like the srt4 crowd, and theyre gonna need a new tranns

theyre not all about power, on their website it says the new gti 0-60 in 7 secs
its probably realistically lower than that but still thats way conservative
but they do have amazing suspension

i agree with everyone. noone should ever complain about the ss/sc not being turbo. yes everyone else that is going to buy the ss/tc cobalt is going to know its faster than the stock ss/sc but common who has a ss/sc stock, the new t/c guys are gonna be some pissed when they get beat up by there little brother. Plus look at it as this is going to be the first "CAR" that gm has t/c there is going to be some kind of problems im sure.
Isn't that the same reason why GM killed the LSJ? Yes. They had to keep the SS going some how. You can either spend lots of money retooling the LSJ to comply with the new emissions requirements, or save lots of money and go with what you already have that will work. Makes sense to me to go with the LNF. BTW, we are not seeing big numbers out of the LNF yet because of the programming. HPTuners is working on it right now. Expect them to come up with something soon. Regardless, the tranny will still be the issue. You want a LNF with lots of potential power, get a Kappa platform based car like the Solstice or Sky.

Yep , there was a factory produced 2.0l turbo sunbird GT in the late 80's- early 90's and a turbo 3.1l grand prix in 89-90 as well.
not true. remember the cyclones and typhoons? also, gm had prototyped turbo fiero 3.1 v6's before they axed the fiero due to low sales. and a few years back rksport made turbos for the cavaliers and sunfires with cast iron blocks. gm had them pull it off the market because it was cracking the blocks. i'm sure gm has done its research.

this thread is now nuts, i didnt bash the ss/tc i was just saying that i was upset on having a car out there making me feel inferior when i thought i was gm's top tuner dog, i know thats how life is some fellas come on..
i still love my ss/sc and look forward to seeing the potential come out of the ss/tc and having me blow by past one and make him jealous of me... we all know deep down thats why we mod our cars to be better and faster than others... no one can deny that

wow we have alot of haters hahaha....This is like the srt 4 to ss/sc battles but people lets learn a ****** lesson here these are all CHEVY!!!! Just because most of you cant and wont buy a ss/tc then dont buy it and get over it if its faster.... Just because the car is faster doesnt mean it will attract dumbasses to this site.. No way around it its a damn cobalt and thats what this forum is for and its made for ss's and every other cobalt so who are you to say a tc should not be apart of it....

Just remeber our cars are differant( that being its a sc ) not a turbo 4 banger, turbo 4 bangers are everywhere, but not sc 4 bangers
This helps with the ss\tc come out and I will tell you why.
I am a diehard American car buyer (Chevys only) and love chevy and will push my chevy anyday over driving anything else.
Well to get back to the point...This help chevy compete against these forigein cars in the tuner market.
Whens the last time we seen chevy make a tuner car??
Hmmmm..cant think of one.
Making the Cobalt has been one of the best things chevy could have done in a while.
Why??
To keep the money in this country(USA) and stop these people from buying Honda's which "had" this tuner market of for many years and buy a American car.
So to say ..im not worried at all about the ss\tc coming out.
I love my blown 4 banger SS
If I want to take it on and Murder it !!
Ill just have to take out the good ole V8 Chevy Corvette
So all of you who have SS\SC and want to trade it in for the SS\TC go for it.
But me ...NO WAY!!! its a first of its kinda.

Look at it this way... line up the L61, LE5, LSJ, and LNF....
