STI or New SS??
That's a race that was set-up though. When you just so happen to find a car traveling in the same direction as you... its different.
I should have fully explain myself in my first post.
STi will get to the 1320 faster. But the SS WILL be moving faster at that point, and if the street race lasts much longer than that, the STi will normally lose. That was the point I was trying to make.
I've read like 3 threads lately where people don't understand why they are beating STi's and Evo's on the street - from rolls. "That's a low 13 sec car... how am I beating it." I suppose I just got carried away.
I'd rather have the STi. But I was just making the point that out of the first 330', its all in the SS.

sure they are 13 second cars, in the 1/4 mile yes, from a roll they are no quicker then a stage 2 ss/sc
my buddy at work has a 04 sti, and seriously, his interior is WEAK!!! like there is nothing nice about the STI interior at all.
yes it is turboed and yes it is awd, but look at it this way, you could buy a car just as powerful or very close brand new for roughly the same price as a used car...
new>used ALWAYS
i hope that helps a little, + sti is worse on gas ftl
+ maintaining one is FTL if one of your tires balds quicker then the other (for any reason) you have to buy all 4 new ones so the awd system doesnt **** up

Logic is screwed up on that second paragraph. Not to mention, with the STi, you are paying for a car with a lot of aftermarket support and a lot of potential. Not so much on the SS/TC.
New>Used NOT ALWAYS
The STi isn't that much worse on gas. And if you are concerned with gas, you shouldn't be getting a performance car.
Not even gonna comment on the tire comment.
Actually... an 04 is slower than a Stg2. I've proved this a few times. 05/06 STi is a different story as is 08 STi's.

Interior is personal preference.

OP, in all actuality... what you need to do is drive both cars for AT LEAST 30 minutes to an Hour a piece to try and figure out which one you like the most.
The seats might not be comfy to you in the STi after an hour... or maybe the SS/TC's clutch pedal will feel too light and you won't like it.
YOU will be driving it and making the payments... YOU need to decide.

So right now I'm in the market for a new car since I just found out that I get to go to college for free, yay ROTC, but anyways, I am looking at cars in the range of 20-25. Right now I'm driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota 3.9 SLT, hahahahaha, so anything would be an improvement. Theres a murdered out '04 STI with only like 30,000 miles on it and just a catback/intake/new bpv that I really like, and there is also the new SS/TC which, if I were to buy a new car, this would be it. Any opinions on which side to lean on. You boys are the experts, most of you atleast. Haha, any and all comments welcome

That's assuming it was a problem. Not all used cars are sold because they're a head ache. It does happen sure, but sometimes people just can't afford to keep a car, or grow out of a car and need a more family friendly ride. So it's all about user preference. OP needs to do some test driving and researching and make a choice.
once again...why come to a cobalt site to ask that question? Its like going to an Sti site and asking the same what do expect the overwhelming majority to be...duh. Why waste the time to ask the opinion. Do ask why people support Mccain? No...Its an opinion, I wouldn't waste my time to ask...Thats Why!!

i've always been a chevy guy but after complications with getting a ss/tc i shopped around and ended up in a subaru dealership. i drove the sti, legacy gt, and wrx. all were amazing cars but i ended up settling on the Legacy Gt due to the massive list of standard features. the sti though was a monster, fun to drive, comfortable, and again fun to drive. go for the sti. you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for all the biased/unbiased opinions haha. I am going down to the Chevy Dealership today to test drive one of their 08s, and I'll see how it feels. The STI is sold, and I know there are probably plenty more around here, but I just would rather have my own car I guess. I will also drive the mazdascoolbus3 to see how that feels as well, I just hate the way it looks and I don't know if I could see myself in one. Oh, and maybe I'll look into a V-tech? wait, **** that.

the 04 didnt even have a stereo stock and a lot of other stuff to add to it.
the tires dont get bald quicker, you can just take faster turns than a cobalt can so thats probably why the tires are wearing so fast, you drive it harder. and yes the tires have very close in tread depth for the awd to work properly, but its nothing big, you get some good tires and a good warranty, you'll be fine.
Fanbois
