Stuck in my car
Stuck in my car
as the title says. i have a 2010 SS/TC that i took to the dodge dealership today to try to trade in on a 2011 RAM 1500.
i bought the car back in june and still owe $25,030 on a 72 month loan at $464 a month. so i figured based on what i was offered 2 months ago i would be about 5k upside down....... man was i suprised.
they offered me 12k at first then 13k after talking to some chevy dealers. they said the problem wasn't the car but the fact that everyone that wants one can afford the car but not the insurance.
My car is in mint condition with no accidents or any damage.
Sooooo i did alot of

and more

pretty much
all in all i love my car but driving home the other night i almost wrecked it 3 times going beyond slow with a dusting of snow on the ground. it scared me bad so thats why i wanted out of it
i love snow but this is the first time i've ever been scared driving in snow. i have thought about that though. the only thing stopping me is i'd have to find a job that pays well enough to support myself there
"people can't afford the insurance so we are lowballing your car's value" is BS. They don't know jack **** about what ppl can and can't afford.
Get winter tires, and you won't be scared of driving in the snow. Seriously, do it now, not later, or you won't have to be scared of the snow - you'll get to be scared of the medical bills from the crash.
Oh and uh, no offense man, but wtf, did you just pay sticker price on the car? You gotta haggle man - you can get a 2010 ss/tc for under $20k if you know how to play the game and shop around.

why would u buy a car brand new and then try and trade it in a year later? Do you know anyting about negative equity? Do you really wanna pay 30-50% more for your next car? If not wait till its paid off of paid to the point where its worth more than you owe...which is unlikely in a cobalt hahaha
after taxes, extended warranty, and some negitive equity, i financed 24k. lol. have similar monthly payments too, i pay 450 a month, plus 119 for insurance. got the car last year and guess how much i owe on it now? 17k. lol. this is on a 72 month loan.
anyways, you could sell your car (depending on milage) for around 17 grand privately. the dealership is lowballing you really bad.

im a car salesman. i know about negative equity. i wanted out of my car for a truck. something more practical and 5k upside down wasn't that bad to try and hide into a new truck but 12 is very bad so now im just keeping it. its by no means worth trading it in
