Stupid Dyno Max VT

Ok I put this Dyno Max VT muffler on my SS/SC in feb since my magnaflow that came on the car was way too loud. Well I loved the sound of the VT untill about month or two ago when the little flap inside the muffler started making noise. It sounds like junk to be honest. I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried this muffler and had the same issue and if you found a way to fix it.

I would also like to note that the muffler is not a quite as it used to be but its still way better than what I had.

Yea I've looked around I now see the bad news everyone talks about. I just want a solution. I see everyone recommend the dynomax super turbo but I really think it would sound fine if I would figure a way to rip the flap out.

mufflers wear out over time especially on cobalts, take it to your local exhaust shop and see if they can yank the flap out. I'm currently running the dynomax superturbo and I've had a piece if it break off on the inside and get lodged near the tip, probably not buying that brand again.

Ok so they are going to replace the muffler under warrenty and they advised me to move from part number 17156 to 17956 same muffler just stronger spring. Now should I do this or get a super turbo muffler. If so what part number do you recommend?

I bought the super turbo just the other day, waiting to install maybe this weekend. hopefully mine doesn't **** the bed. if you bought one and it broke, I would advise against buying that same one again. that should be obvious.

Anyone know where i can find a good sound clip of the super Turbo, or the VT? can't seem to find one. How much louder over stock is it? I am thinking about doing catless full 3 inch, exhaust, but i don't want it very loud. maybe just a bit more and a little deeper then stock.

The spring that controls the flap wears out over time. Nothing you can do about it. I went from stock to magnaflow to VT series then to super turbo. The super turbo is the best one yet imo.

I've found that sound clips of exhaust dont do them any justice.

How much louder is the Vt at WOT over the Super Turbo? And how about at part throttle? What about the sound, any rasp etc? I think i may go super Turbo, but not sure if i need the extra flow of the VT. Since i will be racing mine.

The super turbo is much quieter and helps with rasp. The VT series is a straight thru design with a flap attached to a spring. So when the flap is closed or mostly closed it helps keep the noise down, but when the flap is all the way open it's just as loud as a magnaflow. As far as flow is concerned, I have the super turbo on my car and my last dyno was 312 whp.

kinda glad I unloaded mine before I installed it. I'd just stick with the super Turbo

Look like the difference between the two is not much. the super turbo is 700scfm and the VT is 841.
