Test Drive

So my friends works at a ford dealer ship so for fun he let me come down and test drive a 07 mustang GT. well after we get in it and start driving on the side streets and i get on the gas a few times i would have to say i was not impressed at all. i mean my old 1999 Rodeo had more ***** then this thing not to mension it felt like i was driving a huge boat. there is no suprize why my cobalt kills those things in a race every time i have raced one. the only reason it was fun was because i was doing donuts in a golf course parking lot but other then that i would never pay the $29,000 they were listed at

Its not much bigger than a balt, and with a good driver, can match the balt for acceleration, just not handeling. The only reason that it may "feel" big is because of its long and high hood.

There is also no replacement for the aftermarket following, or the style of a mustang.

Can you do donuts in your cobalt? I didn't think so.

To each his own.

just because you can't do donuts in a cobalt doesn't mean that the mustang is superior. for the price and performance, your better off with a cobalt ss.

sorry man gonna have to dis-agree..

maybe in a stock vs stock application this holds true..
but buyers of the ss/sc are going to mod more then likely and the same with your GT owners.... and there is alot more potential for the GTs

You all do know that a K&N filter kit adds over 50 HP to the Mustang GT right? One stupid bolt on yeilds 50+ ponies for a Mustang! Then there is soooo much aftermarket and factory support for the car that it stupid!

Yeah you guys can take a stock GT but doen't forget a stock GT is NOT the top of the line car. I doubt you'd fair as well agaisnt a 600 hp King Snake or a Salleen version of the car.

He said it, I just agreed with him.

If you look at the price

Cobalt SS is about $20K and 200 Hp
Mustang GT is about $28K and 300 Hp

If its cost per horse, the mustang won.

And can you get a convertable cobalt? I also like that V-8 sound.

Also if you would have read my entire post I said that
"with a good driver, can match the balt for acceleration, just not handeling."

This says in plain english that it doesn't handel as well as a cobalt.

I will also repeate my last line in my previous post, just for your sake.
To each his own.

I test drove the GT aswell, before ordering a Balt.
The Stang is a much quicker car.....no doubt about it whatsoever.
Unfortunately, it still felt like a Mustang; heavy, clunkey and cheap.......but not cheap enough.
-Not to mention you see three or four on a daily basis.
The Cobalt SC was my pick because you're essentially purchasing a $45,000 car (and the engineering that goes along with it) for HALF PRICE! Swedish engineered drivetrain (German assembled) and an Opel chassis that was tweaked by GM Performance Division (the best "go-fast make it last" gearheads around [LeMans, ALMS, Cup Car etc.).
It's refinement is evident.
