Thinking about a Cobalt ss/sc Help!

Sup guys, I'm looking to get a cobalt within the next few weeks. I'm a truck guy but I'm settling for a car because I'm in college I don't have the money for payments and gas on a newer truck. I currently drive a 98 sierra 4x4. I'm looking to get an 06-07 ss with around 70,000 miles for under 10 grand. I'm also looking to get one that hasn't had the **** beat out of it by some other kid. Is this reasonable? If i find one in decent condition, how reliable could I expect it to be as compared to an 07-08 civic si or gti? I've read the mpg is around the same for all 3. My last question is does anyone have any experience fitting a 6'0 surfboard either on the roof or through the back seat? Thanks in advance!

Put a few more grands and you can buy mines. Has 23k miles on an 07.
I know thru back seat to trunk a lot of things will fit but best bet throw it on the roof with a roof rack.

When I saw our topic, I first though you were wanting some one to talk you out of getting an SS/SC.

I wouldn't buy a Honda anything. As for the surf board thing the rear seats do fold down in the Cobalt

Unreasonable.

When looking for cars, you could plank on the roof to judge for your surfboard.

I have no experience with an Si or GTI, but LSJ's always put the smackdown on those.

I bet most ss balts have been beat on. its the maitenance and overall shape of the car that will matter. for the price and mileage thats reasonable. i put 40k real hard miles on my car and have pretty much no issues. just look for a clean one man, look under that hood, a well maintained car will show for itself. if it drives good then your good.

gas, i get 21-22 city usually and 30-35 hwy, and i got a heavy foot most of the time.

It took me almost 3 months to find a non beat up, stock SS/SC in good shape. Good Luck.

I can tell you no to the SI as we have one. They are nice but slow (require premium) and have higher insurance then the SS (pry because of theft). Plus it seems like there is always something failing on that car and its been in for warranty work now 6 times.
