Question Traction Control Idea.....need opinions

Hopefully this is in the right forum section....its kinda general. Alright I was sitting today eatting a plate full of turkey and I had an idea. Alright if you can pull the e-brake up one click and turn off traction control, I was thinking perhaps its like Screens inside a car that are hooked up to the ebrake. Maybe its all controlled by grounding a wire. I was figuring if I could figure out what wire if it is a wire turns it on or off, why can't I just get a traction control button lets say out of a monte carlo like my sisters and wire from the ebrake to that switch? Any Thoughts?

see I figured it would only ding if the ebrake was pulled up....not with the button only...it as to be more than one wire controlling it....

no what I mean, one wire to function the brake light and dinging, and one to disable t/c....perhaps im wrong.....I have some more research to do.

He has a 2.4

And SS/SC's dont have traction control anyway, I beleive only automatics do

I work at a parts store and I know the top mechanic at the dealership where I bought my car....he said I could turbo it and he wont say nothing. I can request him to do any work on my car....I usually just have to wait. I am not really worried about warrenty. I am lucky on that one.

The only easy way to do it is put your ebrake on the lightest setting (the first click) or put your car in 'L' or '1' on the shift selection

Also, If you want to get technical and turn off ABS as well, you could disconnnect your wheel sensor

With the automatics, it's actually quite easy, and even designed right into the car. If you are drag launching, you need to do this:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/drag-racing-52/launching-automatic-brake-starting-36322/

I wrote that thread a couple months ago. It should answer your questions. Don't take apart your ebrake.

its just not for launching, im tired of trying to pull out in front of traffic and my motor die down because of traction control...I would rather spin a little instead of lagging down. and popping up a automatic shifter is just wrong. you get an automatic so it will shift automatically.

but thanks about the launching, I have to go practice that before I go to the track.

Two things. First of all, if you're traction control is kicking in during an acceleration after you are already rolling, then you must be on some pretty slick roads and probably shouldn't be flooring it anyway.

Second, you mis-read my technique concerning the shift. You don't "pop" it into the next gear. While in first or low with WOT, the trans will shift automatically to second, even though you are only in first. After the trans has made that shift, slide the gear selector into second. That will then allow the trans to shift to 3rd the same way it just shifted to second.

i just want to be able to burn some rubber.. i hate when you start spinning and your engin shuts down on you.. and it would be cool to have a button to turn it on and off so in the snow it can be on and when you wanna burn rubber it can be off.. my old GaGT had a button on the side of the shifter that did that

I remember sunfires used to have a traction control button that was optional, so I'm sure it can be done, just not sure how.

Ask him to put that in writing

If youre going to go through all that trouble, why not just lose the tq converter, save the powerloss and get a manual?
Drive what you wanna drive. I just find the sound of a nice exhaust is made gimpy with the shifts of an atx ... j/k lol

Are you serious? Trouble? You mean like clutching every gear, missing your shifts, and breaking axles? You can't be serious.

Let's see, um, hold the brake, ok that was tough.

Put the car in first gear. Damn, I think I jammed a finger.

Floor the gas. Ouch, my foot!

Let go of the brake. Holy **** look at the car go!!!

I keep forgetting the Alphabet is complicated to some people..... you make it sound like you're launching the space shuttle here j/k

Sorry, I find shifting to be as easy as 1,2,3,4,5.... lol I love the SC tranny and the way it shifts (for a stock tranny). I can row through these gears

I'll never drive a 4cyl auto. However as I said, drive what you wanna drive if you like it thats all that matters. Although you will never convince me you get more fun out of an Auto 4 cyl compared to the mtx

Have fun with the slush bucket, at least I have enough torque to break an axle... which by the way it really isn't that big of an upgrade if youre serious about racing. Its a must.

Oh yeah hunter, here's one.... You vs Civic.... You = Owned.

Way to flame a mod, and a good portion of the members on this site.

How is that flaming? I said drive what you wanna drive but youre not going to convince me that a 4 cyl auto is just as fun as an mtx, to me.

The Alphabet joke was in pure humor, as I just dont see the complexity in shifting gears.
Also, I dont like what the tq converters do to rob power especially with you ls'ers who dont have a lot to begin with. tq converters + 4 cyl = not fun for me. Thats all i am sayin...

well..... i dont know why auto companies have all these clever chimes on **** now adays. i can understand the headlights, but come on the e brake now, whats next the drivers door when your in drive? comom sense...

anyways to get around this in my 98 cavy i just pull the e brake up one click and it does not make that chimming noise. but i am out of ideas, my solution for me was to get a manual tranny 2.4 ss, which should be here soon!

good luck...
