you cant wire in a switch some how. my 2001 sunfire had a switch that turns my traction controll off. so if its done on my old car theres got to be a way to do it on the cobalts. what controlls the TC ?

wow dude...double pwned...way to be an ******* supercharged
and you never really adressed the original question...how do you think moving the shifter from L to I is difficult when driving a manny tranny isnt?
How is explaining you're opinion when it comes to auto's being an *******? I just think you're upset cause I dont like you're car (Auto 2.2). Well, some people dont like mine either and I dont get all misty and call people out for it.

As far as "Moving" a shifter in a 2.2l auto, I think its kinda weak, and I stand by that.. No clutch and a tq converter = bordom for me. I never said it was difficult, in fact its the opposite. My point was that if you wanna really "shift " a car, why not just buy a manual? And the answer has already been given that you'll snap axels and miss shifts and get drool on you're seat etc.. Personally I dont find it that hard.

To each thier own, sorry but I just think that 4cyl autos suck power, and not being able to shift makes it less exiting too. Another point being you're slower than a mtx 2.2l (stock) and you will have to invest $$$ just to get up to speed with a mtx , better yet beat one..

A couple week ends ago I took out my mtx Mazda 3 GT to race my Friends auto and beat him by a car and a half, then switched cars and he handed it to me. One thing I noticed is that when I hammered that car (atx) it shifted pefectly at redline and was faster than moving the shifter thingy down. I found the boggyness of the auto to be frustrating I guess I can't blame you for trying to do anything to make it more like a mtx.

but i am out of ideas, my solution for me was to get a manual tranny 2.4 ss, which should be here soon!
Thats what I'm talking about

If I mortally offended anyone, my apologies as it's not my intention.

Hey I am here trying to figure out if a mod can be done or not. I did not make a post for more people to fight and flame on each other....

I just want my automatic to move a little faster. whats wrong with that? What about short shifters for sticks? If I wanted a standard i would have bought that. I dont want opinions on what to drive or what kind of car I should have bought, I want opinions on how to go faster. I just want a little more power without that trans holding it back.

Sorry man, I should have noted that it was an Auto Mazda 3 (2.3L) same as mine except it was an auto. They have the tiptronic thing going on. I was just using it to state my point of atx being slower than mtx, which really doesnt need to be proven, but just thought I would mention a recent experience.

Not sure who would win my MTX Mazda 3 (2.3) or a 2.2 Auto as I have never raced one in the Mazda officially but I have pulled away from them on the highway etc pretty easily. From driving both I would say the Mazda feels a lot quicker. I do know the 3's dyno around 140 ish to the wheels so that should put em faster than the 2.2 but slower than the 2.4.

I am going to be trading in my Mazda 3 in the spring for a Mazdaspeed 3. The decisions will be great, should I go turbo today, or should I go M62?

Ummmmmmmmmm, why not just pull the relay or fuse?

Maybe you can somehow tap into the relay rather than the parking brake circuit. That way the parking brake still deactivates it and you can turn it off whenever.

Check your UBEC

wow, I'm a ******* retard
It should have dawned on me earlier

if you want to make a custom TC/ABS turn off switch, just wire up a switch that disconnects one of the wheel sensors, just trace the wire back to an easily accessible place, and extend it to inside the cabin and wire up a switch

Yes, but doing this would set a code which could get annoying at times.

I believe the relay or fuse switch would be better.

I KNOW!!!

They freakin' designed the car so you could do exactly what you want to do, but you insist on wanting to do it a different way!

You want a switch? YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE! It's called the gear selector, placed in first!

Great now I have a vender telling me not to try a new mod. Its just doing something different than everyone else....a new mod. Thats all I want. but instead I get told its just to throw it in low, its pointless, why do it....etc.....etc...

So dont worry about it anymore. I will figure it out, but thanks for your opinions.

Hey BossHogg, I understand why you want a switch. I hate the traction control being on all the time. Where I live, when it snows you sometimes need to spin your wheels to move at all. In normal driving you don,t want to start in low and shift, thats kind of why I bought an automatic. If you figure it out, please post how you did it.

hog i was not saying at all to not try a mod.

what i was saying is that u throw it down to 1 and it stops or your ebrake up 1 notch will turn it off

if you want to do it all you have to do is get a switch and then hack into your pcm or bcm i beleave and the cut the wire or splice a wire into it that gets it's signal for when the brake is pulled and then wire the switch into it. i will not tell you how to do this . reason is im not responsable for your actions with this.

i would ask your parts manager or a member of this forum for the pin out for the pcm or bcm.
