Two Questions

Hello,
All my life I've driven Automatics...
On Ocasion I have driven manuals so I know how to do it..
But,
I'm not good at it...
and my clutch slippage is a little more notceable thanks to me
not being good at it.
I have about 38888 Miles

Two Questions

Question One: How much Slippage, or at what point should I replace my clutch?

Question Two: Can anyone offer advice for my 0 - 5 mph to get my car moving. If I dont ease out of the clutch slowly while holding the RPMs up (approx 1200) the car stalls out. So I'm obviously doing something wrong

Depends on where im going and how im driving,
Sometimes 3k, but mostly between 2 and 3 k
if i shift at 3k then im running 2500 @ 40mph wich is the speed limit the second half of my drive to work

You need not apply the throttle to move.

Go to a parking lot- put the car is 1st and press in the clutch. Slowly release the clutch, you will notice eventually it will 'catch', you will start inching forward. At that point, slowly apply throttle until desired speed while releasing the clutch.

OR

Don't use first gear. Throw it in second from a stop and mash the gas to moooooove.

You shouldn't need a new clutch at 38k miles unless its been beat to ****. The SS supercharged is a tough car to learn on... find a friend's cheap Civic and learn on that if you can

Ok, That makes sence,
Because I did ALOT Better with my Brother's S10 and my dad's Ford Ranger, and both of them are manuals. Well, if I get into it (But not alot) , I notice that I get to 3000rpm just as Im reaching 40mph. With no slippage I should be at 2500 rpm @ 40mph

I also noticed alot that, when I let the clutch out when shifting into second,
it seems like it bounces abit? Am I letting out too fast? Doesnt seem to do it
in other gears, am I Shifting too soon then? I dont really watch the Tach much
when shifting though, so I take it I should shift at 3K then.

Thanks,
So back to my question how MUCH Slippage is acceptable, and how much before I really have to worry. A friend if mine had a lil honda that slipped ALOT.

And Should I put in a Stage II Clutch?

i think that's the crappy soft transmission mounts that give it that bouncy feeling. i notice it on my car too and i have been driving it for quite awhile now.

I'm not sure if it applies to the TC, but I've heard that the SS's clutches are rather prone to glazing. A few good shifts above 3500RPM should get it back into order. Most people tend to slip the clutch a little too long at lower RPM's because they just don't realize it.

Mine does that occasionally if it's just been started and I started going, after it's been sitting overnight.

Still does it with the Ingalls, btw. No big deal, just use a little more throttle when releasing the clutch and it's fine.

I have one of those Ingalls on my right (Left when looking under the hood) engine mount.
I'll ask Mr Google what Clutch Glazeing is.
